Xbox One error code: 0x800701f8

I have this f'n error too. Assassins Creed Unity at many percentages. (I'm Australia too)

I think it has to do with an update to the game it needs?

Question lads, are you all from Australia? Error code 0x800701f8 showing (error code doesn't always show).

If so the answer is there's a problem with Au servers since last week. XBOX knows about it and assured me on Sat that it would be fixed within 3 days.

Trying to download / install COD:AW and getting the same issue : /

 

Same with Dragon Age Inquisition - wtf - paid lots of money for an unplayable game

I'll add a tip I was given by the first Support guru I spoke to, admittedly this was the lady that would have had me return my console but to be fair she didn't have the info at hand that the bloke I spoke to yesterday did. More an organisational fault than
an individual one.

Before she got to thinking it must be the console she was pretty close to the mark without knowing it. One of the things she had me do was set Settings -Power & Startup - Power Mode to "Energy Saving". Note the default setting straight from the factory is
"Instant On".

Now when you are set to "Instant On" the console will update games and itself automatically, when set to "Energy Saving" it will prompt you to accept the update first. One thing she noted with auto-updates is if you got a game where the disc is not sitting
in the tray the update will then sit in the queue. Further and perhaps more critically if you subsequently delete a game to make space (and who doesn't) while there is an update sitting in the queue that update still sits on a server somewhere with your name
on it as an incomplete file.

This she notes could cause problems with further updates as a server wants to update the now deleted game first.

I'd be interested to know how many of us with problems have "Instant On" and maybe even have deleted games with updates waiting, maybe that you didn't even know had updates waiting. I have on both counts.

Note if you go ahead and change to "Power Saving" there's some things, purely cosmetic IMO, you'll miss out on like being able to say "XBOX On" and a few other minor things it'll notify you of. And your XBOX will take slightly longer to startup as it will
power cycle upon every startup - which is not a bad thing IMO as a power cycle is like a re-boot.

Anyway, take it as you will. I'm setting mine to Power Saving meself as I've never turned on a console by speaking to it and have no intention of starting and knowing when and what I'm updating and giving it the OK sounds good to me.

 

So frustrating. I can't download anything without this error. I've been trying to get Titanfall for 2 days now

 

God I am so happy I finally found this thread. I have been searching for days for a fix. I just received a replacement xbox one and trying to get everything up and running again and every install and download is failing constantly with the error code above.
Although it sucks I think I am relieved I was not sent out a dodgy replacement and it is something wrong on their end. I second that there should be something up on the xbox live service site mentioning this.

 

Not happy with this for days now 95% if i wanted this crap i would of got a ps4

 

Just bought my Xbox One today and got it set up. Literally can't play ANYTHING. Back onto the extremely stable PS4 until this is fixed. Great first impression Microsoft

 

I got by tomorrow (Tues) 10.19am AEDT well and truly as the end of the "3 days" as promised.

 

I to have this error. Just bought the new 1tb machine to replace the day one ed machine. So excited until I went to load games. What a nightmare. Nearly 3 days of constant babysitting the new machine, trying to get it to load my game library. Do Microsoft
not care about how damaging this is to them. Or is this market here in Australia not worth the bother?

 

There's been no explanation from microsoft which is very disapointing. I've recently purchased an Xbox as well after many years of owing PlayStations and owning an Xbox has not left a good first impression. At this point if microsoft was a date it would
be the chuncky sized Xbox with serious issues and a grotesquely sized power supply. Its no wonder why majorty of my mates have opted for the sleeker more robust PlayStation.

Please kindly fix this issue

 

This bloke on Twitter @XboxSupport1 I'm not sure if he's stupid or just been trolling me. It's one of the first places I contacted (along via phone) last week. He keeps on sending me back Tweets asking me for further clarification and my support reference
number AFTER I've explained to him three times now that the issue has been confirmed by XBOXSupport on the phone as an Au Server Issue.

I've told him why doesn't he ring XboxSupport and get them to explain it to him! How come Xboxsupport on Twitter knows nothing about what Xboxsupport on phone does?

I've also implored him to come here, read up AND RESPOND.

If you're on Twitter, flood him @XboxSupport1, tell them to come here to the forums that THEY SET UP for such issues
