Xbox one error code (0x21)

Since update xbox has not been reading disc bringing up error code (0x21) .Me and meany others suffering from this issue, works fine for a while
then if you wish to change games it ejects the game then snatches it back in , after ejecting game again and inserting another game it won't read it , to get past this you have to restart the console...please fix

Xbox one disc drive after update!!

My one will not play any discs no after the update I have had tonight it's saying clean disc or it may be damaged error code 0x21 which is weird as I could play all my games yesterday!!

Please shed some light on this situation

I'm guessing you're in the update preview? There's a lot about this on the preview forums, but it's definitely a known issue, and they are working on fixes with the ongoing rebuilds. I also read that the initial fixes with the latest build might allow you
to get around this issue by ejecting the disc and reinserting.

I just had this issue tonight with Assassin's Creed, and sure enough an eject-then-reinsert worked!

 

Yes I have also been doing the preview. But it has gone on for days now and have followed all of the steps I can to resolve this issue ...I think I will have to see what can be bone and have it sent for repairs ...this was my biggest fear from having to
send my 360 off for repairs 5 times ...very disappointed about the hole thing ...perhaps I should of gone with the PS but have always been with Xbox .....

This disc read error is unacceptable, PS4 here I come!!!

 

GUYS. Time out, deep breath. Calm down - the disc read error is specific to the update preview only, and we all signed up knowing there would be bugs here and there. I can't stress strongly enough that sending the console for repairs won't help this issue
because there's nothing physical to repair. If rebooting your Xbox results in the disc being read properly, then this is not a hardware issue, it is related to the preview build. If, however, your drive stops reading discs and nothing helps, only then would
it be a hardware problem.

If you do swap out your Xbox for another, as soon as the initial setup is complete, this disc read issue is likely to recur, because it will likely reinstall the preview build until the current 1404 goes live to the public.

Again, I understand the frustration with beta software, but we did all sign up for it. This disc read error is something that has happened in the beta, and the devs are working on the problem furiously - the sad fact of the matter is, many of these issues
can't just be fixed with a flip of a switch, where one "update" will fix the issue. As Mistur Niceguy said in his Announcement post, these are "initial" fixes, meaning the problem will be being fixed in stages.

Have patience, hang in there, and it will be resolved.

 

well maybe they should have an option to reset it back to before the update. or they could release the old update to give us the choice. this is making me not want to play the dam console. doing a full system shutdown is the only way i can get it to read
the disc again

 

Have been on the phone to Xbox support and they are sending a replacement console, its not a software problem as far as they know, i had to pay £420 that they wont take from my account as insurance that i return the old xbox and the money will be released
upon them getting it back. I am concerned about doing this but have little choice. after the second time of ringing them i was told to download a file they sent me and install it to try and fix it, but it gave a worse error code and a display telling me to
contact customer support. after talking again they have arranged for UPS to pick my xbox up and deliver the replacement. I hope i dont get more problems like i did with the Xbox 360.

 

I sincerely hope that fixes it for you, but I don't think it will, as others have posted Phone Support telling them the same thing - they say that it isn't a software issue, even though devs post in the preview forums that it definitely is and is being fixed.
So, it's clear that phone support doesn't follow these forums actively.

Hopefully the preview update is registered to the console, which means when you get your new one, 1404 won't install until after it goes public. If preview participation is tied to gamertag, then the preview will install on your new console and the issue
will recur.

Regardless, you'll have to go forward with the swap now that support is looking for the exchange. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have some luck!

Have received my replacement xbox and all looks fine I have started reinstalling the games I want to play ...would have been quicker if I had them all on disc but 3 are digital copy's and takeing an age to download...the operating system version on the
console is the 1403 and not the problamatic 1404 ..I will know more when I actually sit and use it later this evening. I have unregistered from the beta testing so that I won't get the update untill it's released to the public ...I cannot fault xbox as they
swiftly replace the console with a brand new one, I rang Tuesday and received the replacement on Thursday morning by UPS, they waited for me to pack the defective Xbox for returne. I was also given a code for a game of my choice from 3 Xbox release titles
when I phoned the support team on the Tuesday .

 

Glad to hear you're up and running again, and sorry that you're leaving, but I understand the frustration and worry over the issues!
