    Xbox One Error 0x80070490/ console will not get to home screen.


    Hi guys. Today I turned on my Xbox One and I was greeted by the usual green 'turning on' screen, however it lasted for about 2 minutes. From there I unplugged my console, and tried again. The same thing happened, however through patience I sat through it
    and a text box popped up in front of a fully black background saying the generic 'Something went wrong' message with an error code: 0x80070490. The only option was to click OK, and I did so multiple times however the text box kept reappearing no matter what.
    I have not taken part in any beta/preview programs which might trick my Xbox One into doing this, nor have I uploaded any software onto my Xbox. Please help, as I am unable to play my Xbox One. I am currently attempting a power cycle method, but I will have
    to update this thread with results.

    Console locked into error mode

    xbox updated last night, this morning got error code 0x80070490. Xbox.com reports it as a 360 code not a one code. Can't even access the home screen. Tried hard reset several times no joy. Any ideas?

    Hey MegaStig04,

    Lets try some things:

    1) PowerCycle

    - Press and hold the white Xbox Button on the Console until it shuts off.

    - Unplug the power brick from both sides for around 2 minutes.

    - Replug and Restart your Console. Try again.

    If the error still occurs try the next step:

    2) Reset

    - Power off your console

    - Unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

    - Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

    - Press and hold the BIND button (Xbox One: located on the left side of the console, Xbox One S: located on the front below the power button) and the EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

    - Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

    - The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

    - On the Troubleshooter select "Reset" and when asked select the option to "Keep your Games and Apps".

    Make sure you know your Email / Password combination of your Account before you do the Reset.

    3) Offline Update

    - Perform the Offline Update as explainded here under "I need to Update my Console offline" Xbox One System Updates | Offline System Updates

    If nothing helps your Console would need to get serviced. For this follow this link:

    and register your Console if you havent already done that. Click on your Console, select the issue and follow the steps.

    I would follow the same suggestions as Microsoft give here https://support.xbox.com/en-US/error-code-lookup?code=0x80070490 I know it says Xbox 360 but I would delete your profile
    from your Xbox one then re sign in
    thanks but I have already downloaded this and the problem is that I cant get out of the error message to actually run the fix suggested

    You could also try a power cycle. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds till it shuts down. This method clears out the cache which may be causing the issue.
