Xbox One - English speaker in Finland

Hi

I'm an English speaker, xbox one was launched yesterday and now I have purchased it, this is the absolute worst user experience ever, or I'm doing things wrong, please help me out

I have a perfectly good working xbox 360 and a windows phone also, my gamertag + points etc all is fine, now when I logged in to the xbox one I had this really bad compromise, apparently I cannot be an English speaker in Finland, only Finnish is supported
in Finland, so xbox just excluded the 5% of the population who speaks Swedish!

Seems that I cannot be an English speaker and live in Finland, per xbox rules, so then I foolishly chose USA, now there is tons of content that I cannot have access to because guess what I am NOT IN THE USA !

Even worse, now my windows phone is logged out of xbox permanently and I have no idea how to get this working again, the whole change to Finnish has been a real hassle and top of all things, KINECT DOESNT SUPPORT language when you leave in Finland, so I
have a nice paper weight sitting on top of my TV that cannot be used for ANYTHING not even turning on or off the xbox one because language is NOT supported !

Finnish VISA card in a Xbox One that is set to english

Hello! I have a Xbox one, I live in Finland but speaks only english.

How can I use my finnish VISA card when I have my console set to English? Now, I have to change the freaking settings to finnish/finland, reboot, buy my stuff, then set it back to english/uk and then reboot again.

I mean come on, what the?

 

Language Setting and Region Locking

I live in Finland but used to live in UK. Hence prefer English as my language setting but have difficulties with my XBOX one as it does not accept that many persons in Finland actually rather use English with XBOX than Finnish.

What setting should I change ?

but of course my account is a finnish account for years now, so it is not from the USA (it was before I moved to Finland, but that was years ago) so your links offer help to migrate the account but not for my issue, anyway, thanks for trying to help

Will tweet this as much as I can, because for sure I'm not alone here in Finland with this frustrating issue on DAY ONE !!!

But my trouble is that I purchased this Xbox one with Kinect and guess what... there is NO Kinect functionality in Finland (as part of voice recognition)

So all those nice features are missing totally !

One more thing, this was fully supported in Xbox 360, I could search, play, pause, stop movies etc.. none of that is possible with xbox one currently (in Finland) I suppose the same case for other European countries where this was launched this weekend of
sept 5th...

 

Unfortunately I have no fix for you, but lots of people recommend having language and locale settings to be separated, so there is the possibility to vote on this at

xbox.uservoice.com/.../6028840-don-t-region-lock-the-languages where Microsoft collects user feedback and suggestions on further improvements.

Well, this is really bad, now after I have read the comments on the user voice link you provided, glad that I'm not alone on this one, I will close the thread but will continue to try to raise the voice that this is literally a rip off in Europe, we were
told to wait and all features would be here and that is not the case, so sad day one for many of us here, I guess no options but to play the waiting game now

Let's see what the future holds my for xbox one, still my xbox 360 is the only one that is a true home entertainment system with all the bells and whistles working perfectly fine, I guess I won't get rid of it now

 

I live in Sweden and although I speak basic Swedish, I come from the UK so English is my preferred language, I find it irritating for the same reasons as the above as well as when I do set my location to UK to get English as my interface language, I then
have no access to my Swedish credit card info, needless to say it's a bit annoying.
