Heck, everyone else is paying attention to these envirmentalist brandeisel. And the rest of the propaganda the so called journalist's.... Hence the brutal beating Xbox One has taken over the past 18 months. Whether it was self inflicted or not, in my opinion
Xbox One can not catch a break.

I agree Nxt.... it seems the X1 has become the console industry whipping boy. It is very annoying to read crap like that and make MS look like a bunch of evil tree puller outers....

    -

My TV has standby mode, as does my laptop. My coffee maker comes on 1/2 hour before I come up from bed.... I think media should be held responsible for what they publish, and have a responsibility should be aware of what they broadcast. In this case a story
like this should never of been published as it is an obvious "troll" story.

I agree kingvas. Right now if you Bing Xbox One the top 10 stories are this BS about mighty energy consuming Xbox One. Every so called/ self claimed gaming journalist at the moment is beating the trash out of Xbox. If it is not this story about energy
efficiency, it will be something else. As if the opposition is perfect in every aspect

  9. I did have a good laugh at some of the articles I read where the Xbox One's power consumption was blowing out people's electrical bill and making it harder to afford, haha, really?

I'd rather go hug a tree, it's very therapeutic. Just kidding.

I've never changed that setting on the Dashboard. Whenever I turn off console, when I turn it back on, its quick to get to the log-in screen. Another advantage of standby mode is Xbox 1 Update and Game Update/DLC sizes are humungous compared to Xbox 360
Update sizes especially since many peps have only ADSL Broadband speeds. The console has DDR3 RAM which isn't as power hungry as GDDR5. The peps who came up with this news should be bashing Sony. It also has an AMD Jaguar which according to Wikipedia is a
    LOW POWER micro-architecture APU thingy.

Mine has been in Energy Saving since the week I got it. I don't know if it actually saves energy but I didn't like instant on because I could still hear the console working even after I turned it "off". To each their own. I don't really see the feature going
    anywhere.

  12. I get a strange sense by reading this thread, that something harsh this way comes. Possibly even via New US or EU regulations perhaps?

I wouldnt put it past them!

Instant On mode is the way to go for automatic updates in the background while the console isn’t being used. This feature is awesome. I love the fact that I can turn on my console and its already updated.

Now a bunch of tree hugging hippies want to change my console? What would be their ultimate goal here? I bet they would love to see the option shut down.

I implore Microsoft to not give these people the time of day. They've already gave in to these crackpots by putting the feature up front for initial set up. But that's not good enough. Now the wording of the options offered isn't good enough.

With Instant On turned off, users would save between $33 to $75 over 5 years. That works out to be a savings of 1.8 to 4.1 cents a day. Give me a break! The Instant On mode is worth so much more than some pathetic chump change.

Environmental group still not happy with Microsoft's Xbox One energy-saving option

I just looked at my electric bill, I pay $0.08 per kilowatt, so if instant on is enabled and I don't turn on my X1 for 30 days, it will use 9 kilowatts... That is $0.72... I think it's fine.

A few extra cents is worth the features it provides. These tree-huggers act like it uses more juice than the Griswold's house at Christmas time.

I unpl;ug my console when its not in use, i see no reason to leave it on and consume energy/be a potential fire risk.

    Same with all my electronics.

Just turn it off at the wall is enough, but some strict parents may want to do the above, just handle it with care. Companies may make energy efficient hardware as reasonably possible like energy efficient light bulbs which last far longer than old fashioned
light bulbs and use less power. I'm sure Microsoft has good environmental policies. They also programmed the Xbox 360 to automatically shutdown after like an hour of inactivity like idling in a game or on the dashboard. They could reprogram/update the operating
system on Xbox 1. I viewed the image geek and I think they showed it like this to make it simple. If I were in the development team, I would have wrote it like that too.

Even though products may strive to be energy efficient, they still consumer power, and it is the responsibility of the user, (not the machine which it's makers have tried to make energy efficient), on how much power goes to it.
