  1. Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller: Issues Registering/Getting Repair

I have an issue with the thumbstick base attached to the controller itself, not the joystick attachments. I found, through examining my and some friend's controllers that my thumbstick was loose (Same problem as this reddit post [Tech] Xbox One Elite Controller Loose Stick + Fix • r/xboxone ).
My controller came that way as well and I do NOT want to do the repair myself.

My problem is that this controller came as part of a bundle with a console. That wouldn't seem like a problem but because it came as part of a bundle the controller cannot be registered as a separate entity, even though it functions separate from the console
like every other controller. I received this controller as a gift from someone I am no longer friends with (read: We now are the equivalent of mortal enemies) but was told that the repair MUST be initiated from the serial number of the xbox that came in the
    bundle.

I am actually red-in-the-face right now after being told that was the only option. The controller has it's own serial and can be used as a separate entity so how are the two tied together for service? The controller is within warranty but I can't get a repair
done without contacting someone who I don't want to contact and who does not want me to contact them.

I have been using xbox products since the controllers were bigger than my head but if I want a simple repair done in 2016 I run into this roadblock. It isn't like I have $150 to throw around and can just buy another elite controller and not deal with this
    nonsense.

Has anyone else dealt with this ridiculous scenario and gotten positive results?

If anyone from xbox support reads this and wants to see SR#1326732943 and SR#1326910401 for chat transcripts.

    :)

The only ones that can really help with repairs is support as no one in the forums has that ability. Probably not what you want to hear but unfortunately that is the case. Toll Free in the US and Canada is 800-469-9269. The website is
Xbox One Support | Xbox 360 Support | Xbox Live and Billing Support Good Luck.

Maybe if you have a MS store close by you could check with them. Just a thought.

Give them the console serial number and say the controller that came with it has a fault, you will have to send it all back console and all, but they should fix the issue.

Where are u in the world?

The console serial number is on the console and is also shown in the settings:

    www.google.co.uk/search

The serial number for your Xbox One console is located in two places: On the sticker on the bottom of the console. On the Console Info & updates screen in Settings (along with the console ID, as described in the previous section).

Sorry, you mean your friend kept the console and gave you the controller....

Only thing I can suggest is if, ask to have the case escalated, the trouble you have is your going to have to prove the item is yours and not obtained through illegal means. But try arguing your case politely and calmly

Hopefully you didn't pay for the controller and actually paying for a repair won't be as big a deal.
