Xbox One Elite initial upload fails at 93%

Is anyone else that bought the brand new XBOX One Elite version getting a failure message once the update reaches 93%. The error reads "There was a problem with the update. You need this update to use your console, but something went wrong. For help visit
xbox.com/xboxone/update/help."

Yes, I tried each of the suggestions on the site multiple times with the exception of the offline tool. Some other things I tried include, 2 different wired locations, create a brand new Cat5e cable, use wireless connection, as well as going back to GameStop
to which they switched out my console for a new one. Each time I get the same message at 93%. Help!!

Today I am having issues with my xbox one x . I have very low download speeds .93 mbps instead of the usual 25mbps. my upload speed is the same on 18mbps. ANY help would be appreciated.

 

Anyone buy the elite version?

 

I have also bought the Xbox one elite console. Mine seems to download up until 94% and then it gives out the same error as you, "There was a problem with the update". and when I click try again, it restarts the whole download.

 

Hey guys. I can't get that page to load for some reason, but have you already tried turning the console off and unplugging the power cord from the back for 5 minutes?

If that doesn't work, is it possible to access your network settings at any time before the update starts? Some other people have had issues with game updates stopping at a certain percentage every time, and were able to get it to work by changing their
DNS server. They used 8.8.8.8 as primary DNS, and 8.8.4.4 as the secondary. I'm not sure if it is relevant, but they were all located in Australia.

Sorry, I don't have much personal experience with this issue, I'm just hoping it helps.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with updating your console. You mentioned you tried 2 different wired locations. Were these both on the same network or somewhere else? If it's consistently failing on the same network on both consoles you've tried it
definitely sounds like you might be having a network issue.

If you're able to, are you able to try updating your console with a friends network? Let us know.

 

hey KenH2k4, changing the DNS server worked. It has finally passed 94% and everything is running smoothly. Did not think that would work but it did. Thanks.

Going over my friends house was the only way it would upload. All the locations I tried before that were on different network segments and I even tried hooking directly up to the Verizon router. All locations stopped at 93%. While I am pleased that I was
able to finally upload the update from the other house... I am now worried that my network is not in optimal settings, or Verizon has me capped somehow.

A problem for another day...

LatinLassy, happy to hear the update completed for you on a different network. To help prevent this in the future can you share your Detailed Network Statistics on the console so that we can see if there are any issues there? To get to your detailed network
statistics press the menu button on the home screen and visit settings. From there select network and scroll to the right which should show the option to visit Detailed Network Statistics.

 

Yes, same issue here - stops @93%. All troubleshooting steps (except the offline tool) had zero effect. Short of returning the Xbox One Elite to the store where I purchased it from or buying a 50-ft Ethernet cable (this was the official Xbox One Support
suggestion). Xbox One Support went so far as to suggest it was totally related to my wireless network, despite the fact that the Xbox 360 sitting 2 feet from it runs flawlessly on the same network, that the Xbox One requires substantially more bandwidth (how
much of a 100-mbit fibreoptic connection I have no idea) and that wireless connections shouldn't be used in the first place. As others are reporting that switching to wired connections, different Internet providers and swapping out consoles have had zero effect
- any suggestions?

 

Thanks KenH2k4, I'm in NZ - just got a new Elite and was crashing at 94% - changing DNS to Google works - however it would be good if Xbox worked out how to fix this as lots of peeps are going to be scratching their heads when their new holiday bundle isn't
updating

 

So when is Xbox going to acknowledge this is a problem and offer a solution beyond returning the Elite for an exchange? (switching to a wired connection and changing the DNS didn't work, and I'm now on my second Elite console having returned and exchanged
the first).

If switching out the console didn't help, it definitely sounds like this is related to network. To clarify, have you taken your console to a friend's home and tested the update there? It seems to have worked for other reporting users in this thread. Be sure

Just posting for people who have the issue in the future. I had the same issue kept getting stuck at 94 percent and telling me there was an issue with the update and was getting frustrated since I just bought the thing. My router has a 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz
connection and switching from the 2.4 to the 5 fixed it for me. Not sure why or how but none the less, I'm on so hopefully this will help someone in the future.
