Xbox One Elite Controllers are not worth $180.

I just got off the phone with a great guy from Xbox support. My Elite controller, bought on June 2nd of this year, stopped working at the beginning of this month. The Y and menu buttons did not respond, and the controller frequently disconnected while the
LED in the Xbox button flickered.

I found out the warranty period for these controllers is 90 days, and despite trying to help me for nearly an hour the service rep had to tell me I was on my own. After little over 4 months of use.

Just as a reference, the Xbox 360 controllers had a warranty period of 1 year. I went through 8 of them during the last 10 years owning a 360, and none of them lasted less than 3 years, and only ever suffered from stick drift.

It's pretty clear from the 9 month drop in warranty coverage that Microsoft doesn't stand behind the Xbox one controllers. They are more expensive, less dependable and more cheaply made than their 360 counterparts.

Microsoft Says Xbox One S Has the Best Controller Ever Made!

I really like the XB1 controllers however they are not as durable as the 360 as my Xbox one controller has stick drift. And I've also heard people having issues with elite controllers breaking too

Why Xbox One controllers break so easily

Xbox 360 controllers are more durable. Xbox 1 controllers are much lighter and sleeker. Xbox 1 Elite is overpriced.

I have suffered a similar issue. I dont do long gaming sessions and am not hard on my accessories. In fact, I am obsessive about keeping them in top shape. I have had my Elite controller about 7 months. A few weeks ago the left thumbstick became loose and
started causing serious onscreen drift. It failed so suddenly that I know a part just failed. I get it. It happens. After paying $150 plus sales tax, a 90 day warranty is downright pathetic on a product like this. Microsoft needs to get behind this product
better with its support options. Now, I either pay for a brand new one or I am stuck with a defective controller. Not a good scenario and the rep told me I am on my own on this.

Both of my elites are suffering from the same exact problems. Also the bumpers broke from the housing causing them to hang from the controller. But the biggest problem has to be the most recent one, which is while I was playing, I heard a static like frying
sound through my headset and the controller just completely shutting off after.(sorry for my lack of sound description) it wouldn't turn back on with fully charged batteries. After 15 minutes of waiting with the batteries removed it turned on but it wouldnt
and currently won't connect to the console, even after a hard reset. I spoke to 3 different reps and all gave the same reply to buy a new one. I then asked to speak to a person in management and the rep guaranteed me management would say the exact same thing
they just said. At that point I did not care to argue and hung up without speaking to management.

Hi! My elite controller have the same problem, and it is out of warranty. It is another defect in an 180$ controller.

I got the same damn problem on my 7th(!!!!!!!!!!) Elite controller now!!!! 4 on elite 1 and 3 on elite 2.... for 180 euros i thought the quality would be better. I be an xbox player since day one of the very first xbox console, but if microsoft is going
that way of **** quality, i better go to sony....

It's already on the latest update and I am not spending any more money for another controller that is going to be doing this. If you're going to make a controller and price it at $180 before taxes then it should be worth that, not worth $60 and an angry B.J
