Xbox One Elite Controller won't connect using batteries

Bottom Line up front: Yes i've tried all of the standard troubleshooting procedures outlined by the website and the forums here. I wanted to post this to see if anyone has a similar problem or possible solution.

Facts: Controller has been updated to the latest firmware. I've tried dozens of full batteries/brands which work perfectly in other controllers and verified the batteries are seated correctly and securely. I've had it for less than a year and i've treated
it like my baby (it's $150 so of course!). It does function when plugged in via USB, but only when the batteries are removed. I have tried full shut-down of the console and have tried other consoles. All other controllers work great in all cases.

The only way that I can get batteries to work in the controller is to remove the batteries. Plug the controller into the console via USB, and then place the batteries while it is still plugged in. I then remove the USB cord and it will function with batteries
for a short time. After a few minutes of inactivity (average of 3mins 40secs), the controller will shutoff. About half of the time a notification will display that the batteries are running low (which is not true because I can immediately remove them and place
them in other controllers and they will still be full). After the controller has shut off after this time of inactivity, it will not power on again regardless of battery replacement until forcing it to power on using a USB cable again.

I've tried using the microsoft repair/replace function in the support section but I can't seem to get it to work for an elite controller.

    :)

Q's about Xbox controller / batteries and recharging

If we place other brand AA rechargeable batteries (NiMh) in the xbox one controller (regular or elite) and if we connect the USB cable to the controller Will it recharge the batteries?

If there is no batteries in the controller and you connect controllers/usb cable to the Xbox or any other power source will the controller work as if it's a wired controller?

Hey Suzaku7! Have you registered your console on the
    device support
site? You will need to do this before you can request a replacement for an accessory (elite controller). Post back and let me know!

Yes. My console has been registered. However when I select to replace the accessory, it asks for the product ID from the inside cover of the battery compartment of the controller. When I type in the Product ID it gives me an error saying that there are no
records and that the only option is to purchase a new one. I'm not paying another 150$ for a potentially defective accessory. What are my options?

So my Xbox controller connects to my phone and works fine but when connect to my Xbox if not usb it dosent work just blinks how do I fix

    Hey Keegen!

Nice to meet you! I'm Darhyl, a fellow gamer. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I am here to help. I just want to clarify, you are unable to connect your controller to your console without connecting via USB cable, is that correct?

If so, verify that your controller batteries aren’t causing this issue. Note that a controller with low battery level might turn on briefly but not stay on for long. Any time your controller connects to the Xbox console, its current battery level can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Home screen.

Note The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 uses a built-in battery, so if you’re using an Elite Series 2, skip this step.

If you aren’t able to connect to the console at all without the USB cord, replace the controller batteries with fresh ones and make sure the controller is powered on.

Also, for us to further isolate the issue, try to use a different Xbox controller and connect the device to your console wirelessly to see if it works.

    xbox controller bluetooth to pc

i do have an xbox as well that i can use
Have you tried the controller with the xbox and the new batteries? That would confirm where the issue lies...whether it's a battery/controller thing or a PC connection issue.

Having said that, it's still very strange that it works with old batteries but won't work with new batteries...that implies there's an issue with the new batteries

    Just to confirm:

    - Controller worked fine without issue with the original batteries. It synced fine and played fine

    - New batteries put in and it won't sync, let alone be able to be used

    - Put old batteries back in and the controller works but the sync button doesn't

That correct? Another question: What are the original batteries and what are the new ones?

    Xbox series x controller question

    Hi,

I u understand that the Series X controller will be using a USB C connector to charge the battery (same as the Elite 2 controller), so charging stations that use micro USB won't work.
