XBox One Elite Controller - Sad buy

I purchased the XBox One Elite controller on March 7th of this year, here we are now roughly 4 months later and the left bumper of my controller is falling off. It just falls out of the controller as I try to use it.

I'd like to say it's isolated to just me, however my friend also purchased the controller the same day I did and his is also having issues with the bumper falling off. We play a game where we fly jets in it together, so LB and RB are used a lot... definitely
because of use of it... but not because of abuse. I always kept it in its storage case, I always cleaned it, I have no kids and no one touches it but me. I don't drop it, I don't throw it, I use it and then put it away. So if it can't handle general use,
then I would say that's bad design.

Now that I experienced this, I look up the warranty and it's only 90 days. Microsoft tells me they can't do anything about it. That's really sad. For the money I spent and the title of "elite" being tossed around with it defined as a well built controller
and now this.

Just a warning to everyone else. It's not worth spending the money. Maybe this is old news. I'm just disappointed in Microsoft on this one. They're typically better than this. You can see what I mean here: http://i.imgur.com/Woe4LpE.jpg

Check reviews. Majority are bad. Most of the grips come off and buttons break very easily.

You can still get a repair for your controller even though it's out of warranty but it won't be free, I don't know what the exact cost it, you should be able to contact Xbox Support about it.

Thanks FearedNightmare for the feedback, in the end I am sure Microsoft will work with me on fixing it for either a cost or some other way... but my issue is the fact that it's ~4 months old and having this problem. I wish it was just me, but I see plenty
of posts online about similar issues. But even more so, ignoring the online posts, I have a friend with the exact same problem.

It's just sad for the quality it's advertised to be.

 

If you bought it in New Zealand then the Consumer Guarantees Act will cover the repair/replacement for no charge. Don't settle for paying anything!
