XBox One Elite controller not recognised by Windows 7

I bought an Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller yesterday, and plugged to my gaming PC (Windows 7) using the supplied USB cable.

The controller gets detected properly by my Surface Pro 4, so the USB cable is fine. I saw that the Xbox Accessories app is only for Windows 10 (which my SP4 naturally came with), and I could use it to configure the Elite controller settings. Although I
do not know exactly how to remap the four bottom paddle bottoms; the UI makes it unclear.

App usability aside, I am highly interested to know why Windows 7 on my gaming PC is facing this problem. Tried different USB ports to no avail. My existing Xbox 360 wireless controller gets detected and works just fine.

If an Official Xbox One controller is recognised by your Xbox One console where the controller from Zedlabz is not recognised then I would try reaching out to the people who made the controller for support.

 

Xobx 360 controller doesn't work with Xbox App when live streaming an Xbox One X

I need a bit of help:

I have the following:

xbox One X

Official Controller

Forza 7

Mad Catz Xbox 360 steering wheel ( Wired).

So want to use my steering wheel with my one X. But I do realise it is not supported by the X directly.

So I have tried to use my windows 10 laptop.

Connected the controller to my windows 10

Windows 10 recognised and installed the correct drivers for it.

I can use it to run PC games ( F1 for exmaple) and no problem.

Launch xbox app

Connect to my xbox one x . successful.

xbox 360 wheel works in the main app and you can use the buttons to select and ... no issues.

Launch live streaming, comes up with no controller connected to this PC. and will not recognise the controller and when I click continue, the 360 contorller doesn't do anything.

But if I stop live streaming, the controller works again and I can move around in the app and ...

Any suggestions?

From others' experience with same problem, it appears Windows 7 does not update itself with the necessary driver pack for Xbox One controllers; gotta manually download and install

As valoryea mentioned Windows 7 and the new controllers may have issues without that driver. We would mostly recommend using Windows 10 with the controllers as Windows 10 is designed to be compatible with them and Windows 7 is not.

As Windows 7 is not fully compatible with the controller you may run into issues even with the drivers installed.

We do wish you the best with that though.

If you run into issues even after you have upgraded to Windows 10 do let us know!

 

Well so far the controller works (all buttons register). Of course, I first had to connect it to my Windows 10 laptop (Surface Pro 4) to configure it via the Xbox accessories app.
