Xbox One Elite Controller left thumbstick is drifting.

As the title indicates, my left thumbstick is drifting. I have tried to obtain a replacement through the service center but I beleive there is no offer available?

I got the controller as a gift and I feel as though it is out of warrenty. Recommendations?

  6. Ugh, my right thumb stick won't move correctly in die angle directions.....

I can speed up movement horizontally and vertically but once I go down or upwards In a Die Angle fashion it slows down to a crawl. :/

Hey there to everyone having drifting issues with their controller!

Sorry to hear that you're having this issue out of the box, definitely want you to have a 100% functional controller. Have you tried reaching out to your retailer for an exchange? I know supplies may be limited in some areas, but it's possible your store
may have extras in case of needing an exchange.

If your store isn't able to exchange it your next best option would be to set up a Repair/Replacement for the controller. To set that up, head on over to our
Online Service Center and register your Xbox One if you haven't done so already. After you register your console you can set up a Repair/Replacement for the controller under accessories.

Once again I'm sincerely sorry to hear about this issue you're experiencing. Definitely want to see you with a working controller ASAP. Please keep us in the loop with how it goes.

Xbox One Elite Controller left thumbstick is drifting.

    Mister Maka,

Here's how my experience went: terrible.

The retailer I bought the controller from, Amazon, does not accept exchanges, and is completely sold out. So my only option with them would be a return.

In an effort to get an Elite, I decided to contact Microsoft support to see if they would honor their manufacturer's warranty.

The only way that they would send me a functional controller is if I sent them my brand new broken one, and that I PAY FOR THE SHIPPING ON MY DIME.

That is absolutely abhorrent. To sell me a broken controller and expect me to pay more to get a working one is the definition of garbage customer service.

I am sending the controller back to Amazon for a refund and I will not be purchasing one again.

An option in the Xbox Accessories app to allow you to relearn the centre position of the controller thumbsticks would be nice plus useful for all controllers.

Really sorry to hear of your experience Man Of War.

Can you clarify if you had Instant enabled for your stick sensitivity? Also, if you still have your controller I would like to look into this a bit more. Thanks!

  11. Im with Man of War here in that selling broken, unreliable equipment in such limited quantities is pretty bad but then expect you to pay for shipping and in the mean time be without a controller for 3 weeks? Unacceptable. I to am having issues with my Elite
controller but it is the left thumbstick that has become loose and clicks in and out of place. For the money I spent on the "Elite" console there seems to be nothing "Elite" about it. For $500 i would expect it to last longer then the 6 days Ive had it. Gamestop
is totally on board with helping me out with an exchange but their hands are tied since this was released with such limited qualities and if they do get any in it will be outside the 30 day grace period so i guess my only option is send it to MS and im sure
MS is just hoping I buy a new controller in the mean time while I pay them to fix their product so in the end they just win And im sure once they fix it and send it back it will never be right and it will never be the same and probably brake again, and again,
and again....what a fool I was for buying such junk.

  12. Have you guys read up on the controllers and how to set dead zone and sensitivity and calibrate them?

Granted I know there's a lot of false advertising going around that the $150 Elite controller was supposed to be more durable, this is a big fat asterisk (**), certain parts are more durable, except the controllers weakest point was never fixed, that's the
analog modules that keep breaking, they're using the same defective ones they put in standard controllers into the new elite controllers, what a waste of craftsmanship Microsoft, apart from that everything else about the controller is solid except that one
important thing they still ignored (sheesh), if there's a most common mechanical problem with Xbox One controllers it's the modules breaking and they have done nothing to remedy this.

On the other hand, the Xbox 360 modules are of far superior construction, those controllers like a good wired one goes for only $30 for the official Microsoft branded one, 1/2 the price of the XBO controller and will last for years (not months), except they
made sure it won't work with your Xbox One (but it will work with your PS4, oh the irony there).

Hopefully it's not the case your modules have broken, maybe it's just that your dead zone needs adjusting and maybe the sensitivity. This being the case, this might also solve issues with other peoples XBO controllers that don't have elites, the ability
to adjust dead zones; think about that Microsoft... unless you want people buying new $60 controllers every few months, I think you've probably thought about this more than making sure peoples *** doesn't break.

  13. Xbox One Elite Controller left thumbstick is drifting.

Could someone from Microsoft officially confirm or deny whether the Xbox Elite controller thumbstick modules are actually identical to those installed in the standard Xbox One controller?

I daren't take mine apart due to warranty, though i have spent some time looking at all the best quality pictures i could find of both the controllers dissassembled; i thought i could see tiny differences in the modules themselves, but i can never be sure.

I could see that the circuit board on the Elite was of a different design, with the microsoft trademark printed on the front to the top left, and below where ABXY sit. Having used the controller for the week that i've had it, i can certainly say that it
feels of better quality. That being said, i was using a third party 360 controller prior, and haven't had a proper feel for the standard One controller as of yet.

I have also played around in the app, moving the deadzones as close to 0 as possible, and as far as i can tell, my sticks seem to be perfectly centered, and the modules appear to be of good quality.

I hope Microsoft will respond to this enquiry, because as fond as i am of this controller, and their recent generous gift of Windows 10, i've never been a fan of corporations ripping off customers and then refusing to acknowledge the problem existing in
the first place. Both good and bad things stemmed from the way the global economy developed, and personally i think capitalism could work well if the people at the top weren't so greedy, anyway, my point is; don't make it worse by *** on those that have actually
    accepted this materialstic world.

    Hey there Old and Putrid.

We don't have specifics to share on the internals of the Xbox Elite controller, but the overall build quality is much different than the standard controller. As mentioned, opening the controller voids the warranty and it's something we definitely do not
    recommend.

In the future please be sure to create a new thread rather than bumping old threads, as this thread is back from November. Thank you Xbox One Elite Controller left thumbstick is drifting. :)

Why is the Quality of the Xbox Elite Version 2 controls bad?

they have turned into apple, they sell inferior cheap tack at a premium price.

I have seen loads and loads of posts about stick drift on a lot of new controllers, not just elite.

Best thing is i have three xbox one s controllers, all with drift on the left thumbstick, seems to be an issue when you click it in repeatedly for running in games it then gets drift very quickly. (mainly drifting up)

I bought a power A controller with two rear buttons and low and behold no drift even after three months of use.

Xbox One Controller, left stick faulting!!!

We all know thumbstick drift is a serious issue at the moment with Xbox One Controllers. This is because in this generation, the thumbstick modules are really cheap and the quality of these modules is bad.The 2 main problems are (compaired to the Xbox 360
Controllers) that the two 'lines' you see running over the module are made of plastic, instead of copper and the module is surrounded by more plastic, instead of metal.

Thumbstick drift happends when the little plastic piece either left or right of the thumbstick module breaks (99% of the time it is the left piece, and on the left thumbstick, because that one gets used the most, because of using that thumbstick to move
in games). Once this little plastic piece breaks, it can not be put back on. The thumbstick will be permanently broken. All 'fixes' out there are all temporary fixes. On the Xbox 360 Controllers, this was mostly made out of metal, and basically never broke
(EDIT: did not break nearly as much as the Xbox One Controllers! After reading the comments there are apparently loads of people that have Xbox 360 Controller thumbstick drift! This is pretty strange, because if it was such a big problem in the first place,
then why did they 'downgrade' the quality of the materials even more?! One thing that I do know is that we are now seeing a thumbstick drift post every single day, and that was not the case in the Xbox 360 era).

I, and countless of other people, were very excited to find out how the inside of the Elite Controller would look like. But I've got bad news; the Elite Controller uses exactly the same thumbstick modules as the regular Xbox One Controller!

You know what this means? You are just as likely to get thumbstick drift on your $150 controller compaired to the regular Xbox One Controller. This is not a good thing! This is a big factor for a lot of people when thinking about buying this controller,
especially if they experienced thumbstick drift before and know how annoying it can be. Combining this with the horrible warranty, we will see a lot of angry customers in a few months!

I also don't like the way Microsoft addresses this issue. They just tell you to buy a new controller. But I don't think this is entirely Microsoft's fault. This is probably the thumbstick module manufacturer's fault, they decided to switch to this cheaper
alternative. Please Microsoft, order the Xbox 360 thumbstick modules (or even better ones!) if you can, and put them in the Xbox One Controllers!

If you've got any questions, please feel free to post them down below. Please don't see this as an attack on Microsoft of any kind, I've been with the brand for over 8 years and I still love it! I've personally not experienced this issue before, but I do
know this is a real issue and that Microsoft's response to it is not so professional. I'm just here to point this problem out and to suggest a way to solve it.

    Controller left stick broken

yes, left thumbstick break, drift.... is a very well known problem. Google it and you'll find 100's of post on this faulty part with controllers. I own 2 white lunar and 1 black one, all have left drift. I also have a 4th controller that will not turn on.

The controllers thumbsticks are junk in my opinion.

Found your post googling how to solder, trade in.....what to do after my 3rd controller left thumbstick started sticking last night.

^^ Same here but the left thumbstick is starting to drift a bit on one of my day one controllers now but it has had a hammering.

Elite Controller - right stick has "space", normal?

I Don't have this on the Elite controller. Seen it on previous controllers. You have way to much movement in that thumbstick, does not happen on either thumbstick, and obvious a flaw as only one of your sticks.

I do however have both left and right thumbstick drift. Deveolpeed after a couple hours of use, noticable on Instant sensitivity on certain apps, games. Going through a complaint regarding this matter onthe standard controller. Shocked to see it on the
Elite. So not only is the design/ quality bad, manufacturing seem horendous looking at your controller as it should not have that much movement, send it back mate.
