Xbox One Elite Controller - Headset Sound Flipped

I dropped my standard Xbox controller from a height of 1-2ft and now it doesn't pick up sounds through the mic. I had exactly the same problem with my last controller and it makes it unusable.

I decided to get out my old elite controller to see if it would work. I could deal with the grips melting off and a dodgy bumper but now I'm finding that the sound channels are flipping every so often, which makes games where you rely on sound unplayable.

The controller is a few years old so obviously it will be out of warranty, although I have read a few stories where Microsoft have replaced the controller anyway despite it being out of warranty. They don't seem to offer a service to repair the controller
and there's no way I could justify buying a new one or even the new one coming out this year after my experience with this one.

Anyway, has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the issues with either of my standard or elite controllers?

Thanks for the reply. I have the HyperX CloudX's made for xbox and they were working fine until I dropped the controller (without headset) so I don't think that's the issue.

Thanks for the response. Let me clarify, my standard controller is the one that I dropped and it won't pick up sound through a mic. The elite Controller I didn't drop but the sound is inverted through a headset. At this point I'm just trying to get either
of them to work.

To answer your questions:

1) Yes I have tried with multiple controllers which unfortunately have their own problems, but the elite is the only one with inverted sound.

2) I have tried another headset and it still inverts the sound intermittently.

3) For the elite I'm testing the sound using a youtube video for testing stereo speakers. For the standard I'm testing in party chat and it doesn't recognise that I'm speakng.

I have also just replaced the 3.5mm female jack in the elite but it has made no difference.

I tried that link you provided but my controller is out of warranty.

Thanks for the reply and update on the issue with the Xbox One Elite controller. If the issue with the controller happened after it was dropped, sounds like the 3.5mm jack may be compromised.

To help clarify the issue:

Have you tested another controller to help isolate the issue between the console/controller?
Have you tested a different headset?
Are you testing the sound in a game or party chat?
