Xbox One Elite Controller Headset/Mic Issues

Hi!

Having intermittent issue with my Elite Controller where the headset either cuts out completely or starts echoing randomly for others in the game/party chat. Been through other threads and have tried all the tips there, so can confirm :

- elite controller firmware is up to date.

- tried 3 different headsets in our 3 different controllers, all headsets work fine and cannot replicate issue on any of the other controllers, so pretty sure it is not an issue with the headset/mic being used; issue only occurs when any headset is used with
the elite controller, so reckon it's an issue specific to the elite controller only (also have just bought new headset and issue still persists).

- have adjusted all the relevant audio settings as recommended on other threads to reduce mic echo, but this didn't stop headset cutting out randomly or stop the mic echo heard by other gamers.

Not sure if I'm missing something, but pretty sure after trying all the above the issue is with the 3.5mm audio socket on the elite controller, but I'm no expert so looking for advice on whether this could be the source of the problem.

If it is, will be a bit annoyed that after a year's light use and with it costing more than twice the price of a standard controller, a hardware failure of the audio socket is not something I would expect.

Based on your troubleshooting I would agree the issue is likely with the 3.5mm input. The only real way to know would be sending the controller in for repair. Unfortunately you are outside the 90 day warranty so you'd have to pay for the repair.

Are you connecting directly to the controller or are you using a headset adapter? What kind of headset/mic are you attempting to use?

I had a issue simular to this. I updated my elite controller with the headset adaptor and headset plugged in. I haven't had any problems since then. Are you having headset issues with standard controller or only the elite?

Is your friend seeing the same issues with other headsets and those controllers?

Are you able to send us the make and model of that headset that is having issues?

Is the controller

I have experienced this myself.

Many of the newer headsets are not compatible with the original xbox controller headset jack. I tried several headsets before discovering this issue.

Static usually means it is not getting a good connection due to the headset jack not connecting completely.

It should work if you buy a xbox headset adapter.

You may also try powering off the controller. Plug in the headset. Once it shows the headset is connected. Press the xbox button on the controller and scroll to the audio settings. Make sure the the slider for the mic is turned to the on position. Also try
adjusting the mic and headset control volumes and mic sensitivity in this menu.
