Xbox One Elite Controller - Faulty Bumper

I purchased my controller in December 2015 shortly after the release. I purchased it from Best Buy's website and everything was fine. Over the past couple of weeks during July 2016, my bumper had stopped clicking properly and was basically just squishing
down. A few days ago the bumper finally broke off and became loose inside of its' slot. I have never once dropped or mishandled the controller, given how much I paid for it and how I wanted it to last over the life cycle of the Xbox One. It is extremely clear
that it is a manufacturing fault. After much research it is clear that I am not the only one. I have been told by customer support (via online chat) that there is nothing they can do except suggest I buy another one (which feels like a stab in the wound honestly).I
am appalled that we as consumers paid $150 for a faulty piece of hardware and Microsoft is not taking care of us. The whole reason we purchased the Elite Controller is because we believe in Xbox as a brand and I feel that Microsoft should acknowledge their
error in the manufacturing of the Elite Controller, especially in the fact that I've read the bumpers are connected via a single piece of plastic and not on their own as in the vanilla controllers, which makes them virtually un-repairable. I want to know if
anyone else has had this problem and I want to find a solution. All I ask is that Microsoft extend the warranty and offer replacements or repairs for the defective parts. I absolutely can not afford to purchase another controller and hope that we can find
a solution to this problem. I will be calling customer support soon and following up with a written letter of complaint if this issue is not addressed.

GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY (Elite controller)

My Elite controller purchased in October from Game online developed a faulty right bumper. I contacted Game and they told me to exchange for a new one instore I was well chuffed.

Unfortunately that's generally how must companies are when an item is out of warranty. Part of the reason on controllers is that they don't actually repair them. They just send a new one.

 

This is one of the reasons why I'm holding off on getting the elite controller. MS has burned us before. I refuse to drop $150 on an "elite" controller than is in some cases worse than the basic $60 version.

 

Hey there, I'm sorry to see you're having issues with your controller. I do wish the warranty was a lot longer too. But you can send in your controllers for repair or replacements. It's best if your console is still covered by warranty as you won't need
to pay much at all or any for that matter. A few people complain than Microsoft only services consoles and controllers. That's not entirely true. You just need to know where exactly to look and who to speak to.

SEND IN THE BARE CONTROLLER if you need that fixed, keep the removable sticks and DPAD, as you will be sent back a barebone controller.

You can also request replacement pieces incase you've lost thumbsticks/paddles or they have broken.

 

Thank you for the reply, His Pet Leaf, but this doesn't quite answer my question. The link you sent is invalid but I managed to find the page about servicing the Elite Controller. However, my Xbox is out of warranty since April 2016 (originally purchased
April 2015), and the only options I get while on the device replacement page are to pay $10 for new analog sicks, paddles, or a d-pad. The issue with my current Elite Controller is that the plastic joint that holds the right bumper broke off after normal use.
My bumper was completely loose inside of its' slot and I was able to wiggle it out of its' joint. If there is an option to have it replaced for a fee, or actually free of charge for that matter, I would love to know.

I myself haven't had to do this yet thankfully, there's the step to choose which acccessory type to replace/repair. Im guessing you chose the Elite Controller and it only brought up the removable components. Try heading back to that screen and choosing the
Controller option instead. See if there's any options it can give you.

The Elite Controller is a monster of it's own though, that option might not even work. I hope you can get it straightened out. $150 for a paper weight is no good. I might try and sell mine before it happens to me. :/ I really wish the warranty was extended
to like a year. There are petitions going on in the feedback program. Don't know how much traction they're getting though.

 

My Elite controller left thumb sick floats up and down. I've only had it for about 7 months with very limited use. Microsoft only has a 90 day warranty, for a faulty product which is BS for a $200 controller! Every other company I know of would replace
a defective product and stand by their products, but Microsoft doesn't. Don't buy an elite controller from Microsoft because they produce defective products and will not replace them.

 

So is there any member of staff that wants to comment on this thread? I feel that the next viable step is a letter of complaint because online requests are getting nowhere. This is absolutely unacceptable that Microsoft continues to brush this off and turn
a blind eye to their mistakes.

Owned mine for about a month and yet again the bumpers broke. Why can't they come up with a better design or at least an easier way for us to replace them since they break so much?
