Xbox One Elite controller does not work with Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain

So.... I kinda stumbled upon this tonight but apparently the elite controller will not work with MGS 5. Tested it with other games to make sure it was not the controller itself and it checked out. But when used with MGS it will not register the left or right
triggers. So killing the pesky npc's (cant aim or shoot) or navigating the pause menu have become impossible. Out of curiosity, I tried to use a regular controller and that worked fine. So am i forced to use an inferior product, or is there a fix to this that
i am not aware of? I have cleared system cache, deleted and reinstalled the game, even deleted my save data hoping it was a glitch (did not get very far anyways, using harsh language only seems to antagonize the enemy) but to no avail. I am incredibly fond
of the elite controller and using anything else just feels..... wrong. Any advice or input would be helpful. Thank you!

Hi if you have not already done so please please try and carry out a software update to controller to see if this helps with your issue.

 

I updated the controller shortly after posting, but it did not fix my problem.

 

Do you happen to have the hair triggers enabled? Try checking the the switches next to each trigger to see if that is switched on, and if they are on, switch back to normal trigger presses to see if the results differ.

 

DING DING DING! Mister Beep, that was indeed the answer i was looking for. I forgot all about the hair trigger settings since i always keep them on and it works now that i have disabled them. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

 

Woo! Now you can use Venom Snake to his full potential. \/
