Xbox One Elite Controller Bluetooth Connectivity

So this one has me utterly clueless...

I have a working USB Bluetooth dongle in my computer, which i can connect to with another device if needed. But my Xbox One Elite controller isn't being picked up when im searching for devices in Bluetooth settings on my PC.

I bought the controller specifically for the PC and don't have an Xbox One to test anything on. Controller seems to be in fine working order as i bought it the other day and have been using it via the Wire that comes with it.

Have made sure I have the appropriate Windows 10 updates... which i do. So I'm presuming it's an issue with the bluetooth dongle at this point.

Bought this device knowing it could be fully functional over bluetooth, so please help!!!

Xbox One Wireless Elite

The Elite controller does not have Bluetooth connectivity. The "S" controller has Bluetooth.

I'm sorry to see any issues with Bluetooth on your Windows 10 device! If you haven't seen it, we do have a

troubleshooting guide for Bluetooth controllers that may help you out. One of the things it suggests to do is make sure the controller is updated. We have a

handy guide for that, too!

Ultimately, the best test (as in the troubleshooting guide) is to go wired and see if it recognizes there. If it does, then it sounds like your third party dongle might not be compatible with the Xbox One S controller.

Post back and let me know if anything works for you that I've provided, or if you have to go the route of new hardware. I can help get you pointed in the right direction if it appears your controller needs to be replaced.

Is there a difference between the Bluetooth on the Elite and the one on the regular Xbox one controllers. My other controllers connect without an issue, but not the Elite.

This controller does not support xCloud. These are the controllers you can use.

Official Xbox controllers

Xbox Wireless Controller (Bluetooth or USB connection)

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 1 (USB connection only)

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Bluetooth or USB connection)

Xbox Adaptive Controller (Bluetooth or USB connection)

Hi Thomas,

Unfortunately the Xbox Elite Wireless controller is not Bluetooth capable. Only the current Xbox One Wireless controllers have Bluetooth technology and they can only connect to Windows 10 PC's. The Xbox Elite controller will need an Xbox Wireless Adapter
in order to connect to the PC wireless. Xbox One controllers cannot currently connect to mobile phones in any way unfortunately.

Apologies for the inconvenience but I'm sure Microsoft will include Bluetooth technology in the next iteration of the Elite controller sometime in the near future and possible make a way to connect to mobile phones. Maybe you can post this idea over on
Xbox Ideas to get this seen by the right people.

Any controller used to connect to a mobile device, needs to be Bluetooth. The Xbox series One Elite controller isn't and depending on which generation of standard controller you have, would determine if it had Bluetooth capabilities. The ones that do are
the ones that came out for the Xbox One S.
