Xbox One & Electric Bill

maybe OP also bought a new TV... some TVs pulls way too much juice.. especially if you are one of those types that want the "brightest" looking screen... BTW.. bright screens pull more juice... meaning more $$ it is minuscule in the overall order of things...
but it will add up over the course of a lifetime of the TV

 

my bill was lower this month

also i've seen no increase since i've had my xbox one the past 8 months and i've even fallen asleep with it on a few times lol

 

I have a pair of x1's and a pair of ps4's on standby and haven't noticed a difference (I don't really check either mind) going from the four 360's, if your from the uk and comparing bills from a year ago are you sure it's not just the hikes in energy prices
we've had.

 

well Jambo.. (and everyone else saying bill is same or lower) it is something like for each XB1 running all day is like 2.5 360s going full speed ahead...

 

you're bill probably went up because you spend more time playing it, leaving more things on (lights, tv, sound system). do you stay up later at night playing a game with the lights on?

Sorry, but no, it's not. I'm not sure why you want to make up stats. If you actually look up the tests and real stats then the X1 uses about the same power as an older "fat" Xbox 360, or just a bit more than a slim Xbox 360. There's not more than about 10-20%
max difference between the X1 and Xbox 360 either way though.

 

Thanks for the input. I was a little weary of it being from xbox 1 alone because i had not seen any thing posted about it but still was not sure. I do have a 7 year old samsung lcd so that should not be a problem. It must of just been a combination of
things that increased the bill.

360 (Xenon) = 177.1

To use $45 of electricity, you'd have to be playing a game non-stop 24/7 for about 5 months.

 

But it is ridiculous the HDMI does not have a power savings passthrough.

 

I very much doubt that your Xbox One is the reason for a $45 rise in your power bill.

Lestat's estimate seems pretty close to me. If you take the newest and most power efficient revision of the 360, when browsing the dashboard it uses about the same power as the Xbox One and when gaming, the Xbox One uses just over 20% more power, which isn't
far off from what he said.

If you have an old 360 - one of the launch models - that will use about twice the electricity of an Xbox One.

 

Why does anybody compare the 360 with the X1. X1 is turned on even when not gaming and just watching TV. That is a huge difference. In fact my X1 is on even when I use my 360 because I like the instant on feature that turns on my TV and Amp.

 

The above:

-Complains HDMI doesn't have power saving passthrough

-Has both One and 360 on full power when playing 360

Logic people. Learn it.

Use an HDMI splitter SAFLEYDAD. Don't know what it is? Look it up.

 

Just throwing this out there but next gen systems are energy hogs
according to this article.
