Xbox One DTS on Yamaha YAS - 93 sound Bar?

I have just got a Yamaha YAS -93 sound bar and have tried a few different set up solutions without managing to get something I am happy with.

I first connected the One to the TV via HDMI and then used the optical output of the TV, however under the settings on the Xbox only uncompressed stereo option out putted properly on the sound bar. While doing the kinect audio test only the front left and
right channels work under 5.1 or 7.1 and the rear and centre channels are silent. I checked the tv sound options and ensured it was outputting to an external speaker, but there were no more options, so I assumed the to was not outputting the extra channels.

So I then went direct and connected the optical output of the Xbox to the sound bar and found that again the stereo uncompressed worked fine but both bitstream options were silent. I checked that my sound bar supports DTS and can't understand what I need
to do to utilise the surround effects of the Xbox?

any suggestions? Technically I am ok, but sound set ups are new to me, never used digital audio before, so help greatly appreciated.

Soundbar to my xbox one

Hi Iam using Yamaha YHT-S401 using optical cable, Xbox one for optical output support stereo and DTS.

And yes for gaming my soundbar YHT-S401 received DTS signal from Xbox one.

 

Problem solved, looked in the tv settings on the Xbox menu and set sound to surround and bitstream DTS works fine now.

 

Can you control volume with kinect?
