Xbox one drops to dashboard in between loading games.

Hi just got my Xbox one and I have noticed that when swapping disk based games the xbox reads the disk then starts to load but drops back to the dashboard. So i then have to reload the game by clicking on the icon. The game then loads. This only happens
with disk games and only when i swap disks without quitting the game first. My question Is. Is this a fault. Can someone please try loading a few games in a row without quitting to see if this happens on their console. Any response will be appreciated

Interference between dashboard and loading games

Hi,

If anyone can help me it would be great.

I seem to be experiencing some kind of interference (flicking jumping and general crazyness) at the moment between dashboard and loading games. Also i have noticed it in some other areas of dashboard i.e when inputting text like password on the wifi page.

I can only remember it since an update.

Any ideas whats up?

 

Dead Rising 3 Load times/Freezing

I did notice fps drops in dr3. I also encountered lag if you will on Ryse. Not too bad but every once in awhile, Mainly while it was loading between lvls

 

I just tried switching between disc games on my daughters console and it didn't go back to dashboard.

Have you tried hard resetting console? When the console is on, hold the power button on front of console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down, leave for a few minutes then turn back on.

This often fixes minor issues.

 

OP, I get this or something similar very often even with Digital only Games. It comes down to, the X1 is very unstable and can crash Apps very easily. They even built-in a function in case of a crash and that is the X1 will return
home after a failure in deployment of an App.

 

Hi thanks for your response. Yes I have tried the reset. Its strange the disk reads ok and if I quit the last game i Last played through the settings the next game will load with no dropouts. I dont think its a fault with the drive as it detects the disk
every time. If anybody has the same issue could you please leave a comment. Thanks

 

Doesnt the screen default to the dash when you take a disc out? I thought that was the norm? Not in front of a console to test it but im sure its perfectly normal.

Did you leave a gap in between swapping discs Lofty?

Funny I just asked my wife about this and she did have this issue on an older Xbox One, it didn't happen all of the time but now and again.

She said the only way she made sure it didn't happen is to quit the game completely before ejecting one disc and putting in another but I know you mentioned that yourself.

She since has had a new Xbox One console, not through a technical fault but she dropped it lol but it hasn't happened again on this one but the majority of the time she does quit a game down before loading another.

I loaded up Rayman on my daughters console, didn't actually play it, just left it on the title screen for a minute or so then ejected the disc, then straight away put in another disc, this time Batman and it loaded up ok, no going back to dashboard.

 

^just to add to my theory if you have exited a game it shows the default screen which it doesnt need the disc for.

When you take the disc out what does the screen display?

 

All my games are digi only. Every now and them I'll click on the dashboard icon, the game screen will come up, then go back to dashboard. If it does it a second time I end up doing a reset. However the Xbox will turn off but the power light will pulsate
on and off for like 5 mins afterwards. Pesky Gremlins

I didn't take that much notice, I think it just showed the usual home screen but the tiles were showing in the little square boxes for the most recent games played/loaded.

I think so anyway, as I said, I didn't take that much notice lol

 

Just to be clear the game starts to load then drops to the dashboard. Only after swapping disks without quitting in between the games.

As I said, my wife has said this did happen to her quite often but it was ok if she made sure she quit the game first.

And she also said had the same Xbox One for quite a while after with no other problems until she dropped the thing which as you can imagine didn't really do anything good to it lol

 

So would this be hardware fault or simple software bug. ?? any ideas
