Xbox one drops internet connection while on standby (instant on)

    Hi,

    I have noticed that my xbox no longer auto downlaods update in the background while on standy by. I have instant on enabled, which works flawlessly. I have noticed that when resuming from standby it is not connected to xbox live and after a few seconds it
    re connects. I can still instantly resume a game from where i left off so the instant on seems to be working correctly. This has made me wonder if the reason updated are not auto downloaded may be due to the wired ethernet dropping while on standby. Some sort
    of power optimisation seems to be going too far.

    Wound this be an issue with my router or with the xbox? How can i stop the conenction from being dropped. I have a Linksys e4200 router

    Network Issues in Instant On mode

    I only have one Xbox One console on the network so that can't be the issue.

    I believe poo Instant On would resolve the problem at start up but my issue is that in Instant On standby the connection drops making the mode virtually useless. So it would fix it but at the expense of using my console as intended so it's not a fix to the
    issue in hand.

    As for the details and statistics page, this again doesn't really resolve the issue as I have to turn on to utilise it meaning it will have no effect on performance in standby mode.

    I will attempt setting a static IP and DMZ this evening.

    Sorry ZeroAvix, but that is incorrect.

    With instant on the console doesn't actually turn off when in standby, it just goes into a low power state and it keeps a connection to the internet to search for updates.

    UnleashedLemon your understanding of instant on is correct, however i'm not sure about game installations being possible when in standby, i shall test this out right now and post my results in a few hours.

    I have the same concern. Is having the Xbox One connected over Ethernet an obstacle for background downloads/updates?

    Yes remote installations is enabled..

    And yes it's set as my 'home' console..

    BUT... now that i have the xbox turned on (not sitting on standby) it's showing in the list...

    Shouldn't it be able to do it in standby with the instant on feature turned on?? That's the whole point of instant on isn't it? So it can download while 'turned off'
