Xbox One downloading while off/instant-on

My console has been set to instant-on setting since release day, but it will not download games/updates when it is turned off. When I turn off the system it stops the downloads of games and never automatically installs updates. Any ideas anyone or do I just
have a faulty system?

Downloading while in instant on

Is her Xbox currently on, as in, is she playing? 'cause it could be that while the Xbox is in use, ie playing, it won't initiate download on it's own to prevent potential lag for the user.

As for the Xbox being "off" but in Instant On mode, it should download automatically. I don't know if there is a delay from the item being bought and to where it starts, but mine is always finished when i get home if i bought something while at work. If
it is not working, you might need to powercycle the Xbox (Holding down the Xbox logo button on the console itself for 5 seconds until it powers down, and the power supply is glowing orange, then restart. This usually fixes a lot of things.)

It could also be the servers responsible for the initialization request for the download that arent a 100% yet if this started or mostly happened during the holiday attacks on Xbox Live. I'm just speculating here though.

 

Are you using an external hard drive? Have you set that to turn off when the console is powered down? If so, that may be the issue.
