Xbox one download speed is extremely slow and when I try to update games it stops sometimes.

so I've tested to see if it was my wifi I went over to a friends house and his Xbox one was getting a download speed of 100mb/s while I was only getting 30mb/s and his never stopped updating and mine would stop at least once every 20 seconds I have no clue
why my download speed is horrible on my Xbox one.

Very slow upgrade download speeds?

Hi folks,

Just picked up an XBOX One X. A few of my games are trying to download updates (ROTR and TF2 for example), and the speeds are extremely slow. Even when no other games or downloads are running on the console.

I have a really fast internet plan and just upgraded to a beefy router as well...in the Detailed Network Stats it shows ~ 80 Mbs download speed (about half my max). But the download speed of upgrades fluxuates between like...4 Mbs and maybe 20 Mbs if I'm
lucky. Sometimes it dips below 1 Mbs.

It's 2018...how is this a thing? These downloads should pull down super fast. Is there something I need to change in settings or...?

My game downloads are extremely slow, sometimes stop, and an error occurs. hard to download???

Extremely slow game downloads on my brand new xbox one. Sometime will download fine and then an error will happen and keep happening and stop the download. Then after restarting and reinstalling the game sometimes it will complete the download but then I
cant enter the game. Also once the game downloads, it seems to LAG/Slow down everything else on my xbox... Please Help!

I have this issue a lot of the time too, but I don't know why.

I have a 220 Mbps connection and can hit that speed at any time of the day in a speed test. On PSN I can get about 100 Mbps via wireless and the speed is fairly consistent. On Steam I can hit around 200 Mbps and again, it's pretty consistent. However, on
Live the speed is all over the place and never goes above 70 Mbps, but is often trickling along at 20-30 Mbps. Often the download will stop and start, or jump up to 70 Mbps for a short time, then down to sub-10 Mbps. It's all over the place.

My console is wired to the router. I've done factory resets, reset the router, tried a different socket on the router and a different Ethernet cable. Nothing makes any difference.

Yeah I've been having the same problem the last couple of days. When I do a speed test on my XB1, I only get like 30mbps max (often lower). I usually get 90+. And most of the time it only downloads at 10-15mbps. Sometimes it jumps up, but not very often.
And like you guys, all my other devices are fine.

I'm assuming it's an MS server problem... which sucks, because I need to download some stuff before I get the XB1 X in a few days

Hey might not be relevant but if you are playing certain games while trying to download or update something it can really slow your download speed.

I was playing Yakuza 0 while updating games and my speed dropped to kbps until I stopped playing that game.

Might not help in this instance but useful to know

When you install games from disc, the Xbox will download the updates for the game as well. you could be experiencing slow internet speeds a good place to check and trouble shooting can be found here:

support.xbox.com/.../troubleshoot-slow-game-or-app-downloads-on-xbox-one . I have a strong internet connection games will download faster then when I install a game at my brothers house who is using a Verizon data card for internet, so download speeds still
mater when it comes to updating the game while it installing.

Update to games freeezing. I found out was causing freezing with my game. Since I have slow internet speed, and with the Xbox one trying to download patch it would cause some files that are being downloaded to be infected. I recommend to download when internet
speed is at it's strongest. If you have a physical copy of game, then download without being connected to internet. After that is done reconnect to internet, then dowload patch when internet speed is still at it strongest. I hope this helps.
