Xbox One Download Speed Dropoff

I have Comcast internet. I also have very good download/upload speeds. I pay for 105mbps down. I get better than that from every wired connection in my house, even my Xbox One,
SOMETIMES. When I play in the mornings, I have been getting my full 105mbps and better, but when I play at night, I am getting only between 15 and 25mbps down.

What causes this? I have done a speed test on my computer that is plugged into the same switch as my Xbox One and my computer says that it is getting around 125mbps down at the same time my Xbox One is saying between 15 and 25mbps. It doesn't make since
that my computer and Xbox would be registering different results since they are plugged into the same switch and I know that my Xbox can perform those speeds since it does so in the mornings.

Someone please shed some light on the subject if you can.

Download speed doesn't match speed test result

I ran a speed test on my xbox one and got a download speed of 168 Mb/s (which is close to my subscription). I am trying to download Gears 4 and the actual download speed is hovering between 50 and 60 Mb/s. I have restarted the console, and tried canceling and re-starting the download, but that has not improved the actual download speed. If I should be getting 168 Mb/s, why is the actual download stuck at 50-60?

 

I would assume that night time is just peak hours and has a lot of people accessing the servers soaking up the bandwidth, at which point the server farms start load balancing and reducing available bandwidth to accommodate the amount of users.

Unless your ip is capping your speed at peak times.

 

When you did the speed test on your computer did you do it at the same time? If so then IP capping or your broadband contention at peak times would not explain why there is a difference, i.e. it definitely wouldn't be an issue at your end.

But also bear in mind that the Speedtest on X1 doesn't allow you to specify what it's using as the end-point for the Speedtest (some MS server), hence you're never comparing like for like (unless you can somehow point the PC Speedtest to the same MS server
- if you knew what is was).

I would think the issue is more to do with the "other end" - i.e. load on MS servers at peak time. Think them managing 15-25mbps is still pretty good (more than most people's broadbands can handle).

 

Yes I tested the connection on my computer at the same time it was at 125mbps while my Xbox was still between 15-25mbps. I checked my Xbox after midnight where I live though and the speed was 107mbps at 12:15am and 117mbps at 12:30am. So it looks like
it is either my ISP capping the speed on my Xbox based on its IP or MAC address maybe, or the MS servers capping it during peak times. Still frustrating to pay for 100mbps down and not get it with a wired connection at all times.

 

Anytime you're on a cable network it doesn't matter how fast your speed are rated. You share your connection with an entire neighborhood which means more strain during peak hours. I have Fios and even at 25/25 it's blazing quick because it's constantly
at that speed since I only have my direct line. Main reason I'll never go back to cable again if I have a say.

 

But if that were the case, my computer and every other device would be suffering as well. I tested my connection for my computer at the same time as my Xbox and it was at 125mbps so that wouldn't be the case. And my Xbox is plugged into the highest priority
port I have on my switch so it would be getting more of the dedicated bandwidth than anything else.
