  1. Xbox One Download Error = INSANE USAGE SPIKE

So I'm up really late figuring out our sudden spike in data usage. We're at 187% of our data cap for the month and needless to say the overage charges are ridiculous.

How did we go from averaging 268 GB to going to 655 GB this month? At first I chalked it up to my wife binge watching Downton Abbey. Who knows, maybe it was because I was playing The Division for hours on end. Okay, fine, we used a ton of data, I'll
    live with the consequences.

After we cut out all the streaming and gaming, the data kept piling up and up and up, so I turned off the router to stop the bleeding. With one day left on our cycle, I turned the router back on. Within 6 hours, we had used 70GB of data! WHAT THE?!?!

I hop on my router to check things out. No unknown users on the modem, everything looks good there. Bandwidth looks fine as well. Turn on the Xbox and the data absolutely SPIKES! A constant stream of about 50 Mbit/s.

After a bit of digging. One of the Games For Gold (Sunset Overdrive) downloads errored out at 23% but KEPT DOWNLOADING. It was in a perpetual state of download. It never reached 100% and just kept downloading and eating data. It was downloading at about
a rate of 10GB/Hr. My cable provider said some days it ate up 170GB. I cancelled the download and now we're at 160 bit/s! Thank you jeebus!

What was supposed to be a "FREE" game has cost me $60 in overage fees. That's right, nothing in life is free.

    :)

    Unexplained bandwidth usage

Today I noticed a huge spike in data usage through my internet service. After some searching, I discovered my Xbox One was the culprit. According to the bandwidth usage page under network statistics, It used approximately 68 GB total, averaging about 18
GB per hour for almost four hours. I was online at the start of this usage, but most of it occurred while I was offline. This amount of usage is beyond anything that would incur from streaming, so it must have been a download. However, I did not start
any download and nothing new has appeared on my console. Is there a way to figure out what this data usage was for? This accounts for nearly 7% of my monthly data allowance, so I am a little upset about this usage which appears to have been for nothing.

  3. Tech issues: Xbox One bandwidth usage page showing I've used 1.5 million TB last month...

So the past 3 months I've gone over my 1 TB data allowance with Comcast, and I've been going through all of my devices to figure out why, since historically my monthly usage average was ~600 GB.

Well I went into my Xbox One settings and went to the Bandwidth Usage screen.

For the month of August, it says I used "11,409.15 TB" of bandwidth and then in September it says I used "1,551,860.35 TB" of data. Obviously this is incorrect as that amount of data is ridiculous, but regardless, the spikes
in my usage history on the Xbox itself coincide with the spikes I'm seeing with Comcast.

My Xbox was averaging around 125 GB per month up until August. Would anyone know why this could be happening or what else I can do to figure out what's going on?

Xbox One Download Error = INSANE USAGE SPIKE

I'm experiencing a similar situation downloading Sunset Overdrive, however I was stuck at 87% I had left it to install in the background thinking 13% of a twenty something Gig game shouldn't take much more data. but when I came back it was still at 87% and
under network settings it shows (bandwidth history) 7GB/Hr. Unfortunately I only paused the download and this seemed to resolve the issue but then today I looked at the history and again its been downloading 7Gb for who knows how long as it only shows the
past 12h, so canceled the download and have to look forward to some ISP data cap fees also Xbox One Download Error = INSANE USAGE SPIKE :(

to give you an idea this month the only other game I downloaded on the xbox was Defence Grid 2 = 1.5Gb

and according to the xbox network stats I'm over 200Gb of bandwidth used this month already!

    Spiking bandwidth usage

Forgot to do this but I just posted the issue on Xbox Feedback. The person with Xbox Support suggested me to do this as well. So if you want to vote for it here is the link :

More votes the better chance it gets noticed by more people who might have the same issue.

No problem KodokuTraveller, I want this fixed as much as you do, it also can help others who might not realize that they have the same issue before having there Internet throttled, or receive a large bill because they when over their cap. Cheers

    Spiking bandwidth usage

Yes I completely agree you should you. People should not have to remove external storage to solve the problem as for you KodokuTraveller and me removing dose not help with this issue. When I contacted support they were not able to give me a answer over the
chat, but the person I was chatting with was very understanding.

They took a lot of info about the issue a such as "How did much it use before the update and if you had noticed before." they even took the the OS number. I don't know if you or [Soviet Messiah] have the exact same problem. What I noticed if i played Fallout
4 for eight hours when look at the Bandwidth Manger it usually for me has two major spikes one about three hours into playing and the again about six hours into playing. It has added up to around 1GB daily if I only play a single player game that day. That
is a total of 30GB-35GB for a month of data I have no idea what it is doing with the data. They told me that they will update me by email with anything they find. So ill keep you guys up to date on what they tell me. Lets hope for the best that it is a easy
    fix for Xbox.

Same issue here I have the Elite Console with the 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive and have 8TB of external hard drives hocked up. But removing the drives from the console on my end it still shows high usage. I can't vouch for the TV because I don't use that
function. I do have a good plan and I am not worried about hitting the cap but people with a lower tire and play a lot online this could significantly hurt their cap. As of typing this i'm on chat support with Xbox so if I learn anything ill update.

    System Usage Spiking

    Hello, Brendan Turbitt

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It seems that your computer is experiencing some performance issues while playing GTA5, let's solve them together. According to the information you provided, the CPU usage of the system did not exceed 30%, but it still caused no response. Other factors may be involved. Here are some possible solutions:

    1. Clean up startup items: You have deleted all startup services, but you can still check the startup items. Press the Win + R key, type msconfig, and then disable unnecessary startup items in the Startup TAB.

    2. Check the antivirus software: Some antivirus software may interfere with system processes. Try turning off your antivirus software temporarily and then restarting your computer to see if there is an improvement.

    3. Check the network environment: Problems with Steam not starting or not responding are sometimes related to the network environment. Optimize your network connection to ensure network stability.

    4. Update your graphics driver: Make sure your NVIDIA graphics driver is the latest version. You can download the latest drivers from NVIDIA's official website.

    5. You can try a clean boot and run GTA5 alone to see if the problem still exists, you can refer to the link below for a clean boot:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

    Best regards
