Xbox One download bringing down home network

So I recently went ahead and bought the Master Chief Collection bundle. I didn't have any problems during the setup, but after I put in the Halo redemption code, things started to get a little odd. I left the console idle to download the game while passing
the time on my desktop. After a while, I noticed that my wi-fi connection had dropped and, after checking on it, the Xbox had stopped downloading too. Obviously I reset my router and tried again, but after a while the same thing happened. I reset again and
decided to stop the download for the night.

The next day I tried to let it download Halo again while I was out of the house, and when I got back the download had been stopped and the network was down again. Nobody would've been home while I was out and the network has a password, so I doubt the wi-fi
outage was because of anything but the Xbox. I've never had this happen before with any of my other consoles or PC no matter how big the download size, so I don't really know what's up.

    :)

Internet is not fast on my XBOX One X

Check to see if your home router has support for Quality of Service (QoS) for its Internet connection. Enabling a QoS feature on your home router can help prioritize the network connection for your Xbox One to improve download speeds.

If you're still seeing a slow download speed, try the Xbox One Network Connection Error Solution, which can help identify problems
between your home network and your Internet service provider.

Sorry to hear it. What is your internet speed (up and down)? You can test at speedtest.net.

I just recently upgraded my internet. The speeds before were 5 down and .5 up and I experienced the same issue that you are having now.

With my new internet at much faster speeds I don't experience any slowdown. So perhaps your speed is the issue.

You should consider checking with your ISP to see if there's anything they can suggest as well.

Ok, part of The Master Chief Collection is the multiplayer stuff that also needs to be downloaded. Around 20GB worth plus all the updates that need to be done for the game to catch up.

Perhaps that may be what's slowing it down then. What I would suggest to try is to delete this install and then disconnect the console from the internet and see if that has any affect on the install's speed.

What router do you have? Some cheaper/older/ISP default routers start dropping wifi and internet connections when a lot of traffic is pushed through.

Check your router manufacturer webpage for any firmware updates they may have.

My router is a little on the cheap side, but it's not old. It's a TP-Link WR841N and I purchased it about six months ago. However, your advice did make me realize that I never updated the firmware after I got it. I checked and the router was running on firmware
from 2013, so I went ahead and updated it. I figured that might have been what was causing my Xbox One problems, so I tried again with the download. Unfortunately, my internet connection ended up dropping yet again not long after restarting the download.
