    Hello,

    I have a very boring issue with my Xbox. I have a 2TB hard drive for my games but when it fill 500GB, it stoped installing games. I tried to pass from the internal HD to the external too, but the problem persists. I took the HD and put it in my PC, I format
    again, fill it with more than 750GB of info just to see if it crashes, but it work fine, I connected it again on the xbox, download all the games again and the problem is still there. No more than 500GB of games.

    I have no idea what to do.

    External HD (WD My Passport) always on and than corrupted game installs - finally not detected anymore!

    I have used an external HD (WD My Passport - 500gb) on my Xbox One for the last month. I am on instant on and noticed the external HD never turned off, even when console got turned off. A few days ago my system began to behave strangely and, after a simple
    reboot, I noticed my external HD was not detected anymore. The Xbox also got suck at the green loading boot screen and only after many tries it turned on again (hours booting). The external HD showed up and, when I tried to boot a game, it gave me a corrupted
    game install message (the game was on external). Straight afterwards the external HD was not recognized again.

    I lost 300gb of downloads and am trying to fix the external HD on a windows PC (running a full erase). My Xbox One works normally without an external HD. Could the Xbox have ruined my external HD, as it never got turned off for a whole month? I read similar
    problems in another xbox forum topic. Something to do with last update? How am I supposed to fit games in the small 500gb internal HD?

    XBox One don't install any games on the External HD

    This is what I found when looking up your issue:

    "You need to make sure that you selected your external as the default install location.

    Go to Settings - System Under the STORAGE column select Mange Storage

    The default install location will have a colored in top right corner. If that color is located on your Internal and not your external this is how you change it:

    Select the External Drive and Click the 'A' button.

    A menu will open. From here select Install here by default Then select the install new things here option.

    The top right corner should not have a colored indicator (I think this is matched to your profile color).

    As I understand it system updates will as Hydro skillet says be unstalled on the internal Hd but game updates will be installed to the Hd where the game is installed... I have left the external drives on my two Xbox One consoles on and haven't had any negative
    experiences with that..

    Sorry none of the troubleshooting seems to work for you. This is an odd one, as you are right I haven't seen any other with this issue. Do you have an external HD you can install these games you are having issues to and try launching them from there? If
    you do don't move them just in case it is corrupt. Install fully straight from marketplace to external HD.

    Hello Vash,

    Sorry for the issue with your audio on games. We recommend one of the games you are having an audio issue with, install it on the internal HD. Then unplug the external and try the game see if it still has audio issues. This will test to see if it the external
    HD or the Xbox.

    New Hard Disk for XBOX One

    EL GIESTAS--A SSD might be faster than an external HD but the external ones are easier to install. You just plug and play and they are relatively cheap these days. I use a 2TB Seagate external HD for my Xbox 360 and an 8 TB Seagate external HD for my Xbox
    One and have had no problems with either. You just plug them in, let your system reformat them to use on your system of choice and 20 seconds or so later you can start saying games, apps and anything else you want to them.

    And to echo Genesis1953, there's still no way to open your Xbox One to install a new HD without voiding your warranty.
