Xbox One doesn't recognize External Hard Drive

    Xbox One doesn't recognize External Hard Drive


    To put it simply, my Xbox One stopped recognizing my external drive. It worked normally yesterday, now it doesn't.

    I didn't really do anything different, played a few hours last night, turned the console off. Turned it on today and my games weren't there any more, after checking the storage options I realized that my external hard drive wasn't being recognized.

    I tried all the troubleshoot options mentioned here but nothing worked: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/storage/console-doesnt-detect-external-storage

    I even reseted my console but issue persists.

    The disk is a 1T TOSHIBA External USB 3.0 Media. I forget what the format options are when you use it as Xbox storage, if I connect the disk to a windows computer it's not recognized either, but a Mac does, doesn't read the content bur recognizes the disk.

    I got an external hard drive for my Xbox One and installed everything on it, yesterday i turned off the Xbox while i was on a game and now my Xbox doesn't recognize the hard drive but when i connected it to my PC it is recognized.

    Perhaps your child's external hard drive is not working. Is your child's external hard drive recognized by the Xbox One? Does it turn on any lights?

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

    Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

    Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

    Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

    If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?
