    xbox one doesn't recognise disc & won't eject


    Over the last week our xbox one hasn't been ejecting discs on first request, eventually the discs have been ejected after restarting or signing other players in/out. This is not the same game each time either.

    Now it's got to the stage where we have turned the xbox on and chosen a game to play, a message comes up on the screen saying:

    'Do you own this game or app? If you have a game disc, insert it now...'

    The disc for the game is already in the machine.

    The disc now won't eject at all. The machine makes the usual 'beep' and noise when the eject button is pressed. It doesn't make any nasty sounding grinding noises etc. I have put a paperclip in the hole at the side, it goes in about an inch but nothing happens.
    I have also restarted the console as suggested online.

    The xbox one is now around 18 months old so I'm assuming it is out of warranty.

    Are these common faults? Any ideas on how to fix this please?

    Hi there, my Xbox has been struggling for a while now to read games, normally it will work after a while of taking the disc out n putting it back in. However I just got quantum break delivered today but it's not even recognising the disc to start the installation process. After a couple of tries( ejecting the disc and putting it back in) it makes the sound as if it doesn't is about to work but it doesn't even recognise it. I got the Xbox three years ago and everything else works fine. As I mentioned it has had trouble reading discs for a while but now it's not even recognising the disc, I tried quantum break in my brothers Xbox and it worked perfect first time. I was wondering if this problem can be fixed by independent stores and roughly how much this would cost. Any replies will be appreciated.

    Disc not reading

    I got a new game as a disc. I put it in and it doesn't load. My eject button doesn't work and it won't let me manually eject. How do i get it out?

    Unfortunately I had that same issue, and had to get a replacement console in November 2014. I would have a disc in the drive and it would not recognise it, would then eject the disc and re-insert and would still not work, had to repeat the process at the
    very least 6 times before it would recognise the disc. Then one night the disc just jammed in the console and I could not eject it, even with the small button under the side grill. Had to submit a repair request and they sent a brand new console, hope you
    haven't got the same problem but it sounds like you may have.

    console won't eject or recognize disc anymore

    If the disc won't eject, you can try to force eject it: https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/console/manually-eject-disc.

    On all Xbox One consoles, the hole will be found on the left wall of the console, around the corner from the disc slot. On the original Xbox One, the hole is in plain view, but below the grill on the left side.

    Xbox Disc Ejection options.

    Nope, the drive is perfectly capable of ejecting. When inserting a disc in good condition, and the Xbox is capable of reading it, i can use the X button to eject it. But the eject button on the console doesn't do anything. Also this is an Xbox one S

    Found a fix for players unable to use left 4 dead discs on xbox one

    You press the xbox button then go to settings then scroll down to system then you click system then you have clear local game save data and clear local xbox 360 data clear both of them but you cam only do one at a time as once you click on it restarts
    console and for persistant storege go to settings on xbox then down to disc and blu ray click blu ray and cluck persistsant storage to clear it.sometimes the xbox ignores your disc so when you press the eject disc button on console and the disc pops out dont
    remove it instantly press the eject button for disc to go back in the drive and it should recognise it and you can repeat the eject process it will eventually read the disc

    You can use the code on your PC, doesn't mean it won't work on the Xbox One. It will recognise your gamer tag when you download it for the Xbox One.
