Xbox one doesn't power on. Have just received a replacement power supply under warranty ...

I created a ticket to replace my xbox one power supply when the chat support diagnosed my problem as having a bad power supply, but now i'm doubting it. I received my (probably) refurbished power supply in the mail today after about 2 weeks from the point
they received my defective unit (i've heard horror stories that it takes a month or more!).

I'm still having the same problem that I had when I created the first support order:

Pressing the power button does nothing. No sound or lights.

I disconnected the power supply from both the wall and the console, connected it to the wall, and saw an orange light but when i connect it to the console the light quickly goes from orange to white and then off and pressing the power button has no effect.

The chat support rep thought it was the power supply at fault originally so now it's either the console that's defective or the power supply they gave me is a bad refurb.

How do I ensure that the correct steps will be made to get my xbox working again? The process took about three weeks and that's only because I asked support about receiving my shipment and the process was then expedited. I really don't want to have to wait
another month for this to be resolved and for some unknown reason I don't qualify for the advance program unless I'm approved by support. Can someone please help me out?

I'm posting this here, hoping I can get a quicker answer rather than waiting in line for an hour for chat support.

Xbox one power supply issue

You can order a replacement Xbox One power supply from the Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the power supply under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).

Try the following solutions:

Try plugging your console’s power supply into a different electrical outlet. Do not use a surge protector.

If the power supply light is solid red or flashing orange, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 30 minutes. Then, plug the power supply back into the outlet.

If your power supply light is still flashing orange, solid red, or unlit, your power supply needs to be replaced. You can Order a replacement Xbox 360 power supply from the Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the power
supply under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).

 

Sorry to hear it. If you've replaced the power supply then the only other option would be the console.

However, what you could try is see if you have any friends nearby who have an Xbox One. Try their power supply and if it works then you know it's the supply if it doesn't it's the console.

 

I have the same problem man. I thought the problem was the power supply. But I try the power supply on the xbox one of my friend and it goes on. So the problem is the xbox. Sorry for my english... I'm italian

 

thanks for the replies. i'll try to bring my console over to a buddy's house to try his power adapter. I just want to be sure before I ship anything else out. I wish MS would send me a prepaid box like they did with the original xbox when I got that serviced

You can arrange an advanced exchange if you like. You will need a credit card that they can use to hold funds on the console.

What you need to do is call phone support and arrange it. They will ask for your credit card so they can put a hold on the funds (they don't take it). They will then send you the new console and release the hold when the old console is returned to them.
