Xbox one doesn't launch games during an active game download or update

Hi guys

I don't know if any of you have come across this issue with the latest Xbox One console update . i have notice that when ever i have an active game download i can't launch any game if i do i get the " took too long to start " error i never used to have this
before , before i could have an active game download or game update downloading and still play any other game that i had but now i can't with a download active . The only way i can get about this is to either wait for the download to finish or just pause it
before i can go about playing games ....... Hope this can be fixed soon

Xbox One Installing Game Updates

I thought the X1 was supposed to update games whilst in instant-on standby mode, but when I checked for BF4's game update, it didn't notify one was available or tried to install it until I launched the game and accepted the update. If it required me to launch the game to trigger it and accept it, how would standby mode ever be able to install them.

The PS4 automatically adds game updates to your download queue and notifies you about it or if you activate internet in standby mode it will install game updates in standby, which is what I thought the X1 was supposed to do.

You can check to see if you have automatic updates setup - Settings > all settings > Console info & updates. I have mine set to

instant on mode so it downloads the updates, but doesn't apply them until I launch the game.

Typically updates will be done before a game is launched. If they are done during a game it's because the update hasn't been installed within days of it needing to be done.
