Xbox one doesnt know that it has a game disc inside it.

This is my first "Real" problem. Everything was fine. I was watching a blu ray with my family earlier. Later on I popped out the movie and put in Forza 5. A message came up saying that it couldnt read the disc and to make sure it was an Xbox One game disc.
So I popped it out, made sure it was clean and put it back in. It didnt recognise the disc at all and now the disc is in the machine and wont eject because it thinks the drive is empty. It even says insert disc on the game tile on the home screen even though
the disc is already in there. What do I do?

Xbox One will not play games offline

For digital games you need to set it as Home Xbox in order to play them offline. There´s no way around that.

The disc based games should work offline without that as far as i know. Is the right Disc in the Xbox One if you try to launch a Disc based game?

Is the Console reading the Disc correctly / registering that there´s a Disc inside it?

Make also sure its set to offline in the Settings and might try to set it to Power Saving mode / Instant on to see if that makes a difference.

MW3 disk read problems

Your disc may be dirty or the disc has a faulty or broken film inside which makes it unplayable. If another game doesn't work it proberly means that you have one of these Xbox 360's with a faulty or broken laser to read the disc. I use to have this problem
and found it very irritating so I got a new, slim one. If so, then you will need a new Xbox 360 or have it repaired.

 

Update. OK for some reason it didnt see the disc because I'm guessing the machine didnt pull it in all the way. After repeated attempts the game finally ejected. Put it back in and it loaded up. Now the problem is it makes a loud whirring, whizzing noise
with the disc in the drive. So I eject it and put another disc to see if its a problem with the machine or the game disc and it made the same loud whirring noise. It had worked almost flawlessly up to this point. Do I need to send it for repair or replacement?
And how do I start the process?

 

I would contact microsoft directly and get a replacement, sounds like you've got a problem that a lot of launch xbox's had.

 

Tried again this morning and strangely everything was fine. Hopefully itwas just a freak occurance. If the problem returns I'll definately be sending it out.
