Xbox One does not output audio

Hello there!

My living room Xbox One is not outputting sound through HDMI or Optical Audio as of 3 days ago. I get sound through headphones on the controller port but nothing else, and as far as I know nothing has changed from previous night when
I was watching Netflix on it. What's weird is that when I change the setup from Dolby digital or DTS or uncompressed 5.1, My sound system (Pioneer VSX-530) picks up on the changes. I see it switching with it on the heads up display on the receiver itself.

I have contacted support but after all the basic trouble shooting steps I was referred here. I'm really hoping not to have send this in, crossing my fingers for just a bug. The troubleshooting steps/checks I have tried so far;

• Hard Reset, and tried unplugging the power cord for 30 seconds
• A different HDMI cable, and optical cord
• The settings are correct for my sound system, right now, since I have it HDMI along with optical right into the back of the receiver for troubleshooting, I have it set to HDMI Bit stream out as DTS. Usual/Normal setup is Optical out from Xbox to the
  sound system and HDMI out from Xbox to the TV.
  
• Audio Option is set to surround sound
• I have tried turning off and on HDMI and Optical Audio options respectively, while trying different combinations of uncompressed, Dolby, and DTS.
  
• Offline System update

I haven't tried resetting the Xbox yet. I was hoping there were more options I could try beforehand. I did a little research but I didn't really find anything pertaining to this type of audio problem. I do apprictae any feedback!
Also I do apologize if it takes a bit for me to reply, I'm home alone with 3 kids today ha-ha so a bit busy!

S/Pdif to RCA Audio Adapter for Xbox One

Xbox One has 2 outputs - one HDMI and one Optical Audio (s/pdif). HDMI carries both audio and video. But if you want to send your audio to a receiver that does not have HDMI inputs, then you can use the optical output from Xbox One. PS4 is exactly the
same.

And William is right - if you try converting HDMI to DVI, you will lose the audio on both Xbox and PS4 (unless you are using the separate optical output for audio).

 

Sound issues from Live TV

Yes go to your cable box settings menu. Then audio output and make sure digital output is not selected. Xbox one dies not support digital audio input. Hope this helps.

 

So after getting some time and playing with it today I found it's not the Xbox but the pioneer itself. I was taking a break out of frustration, so I put on some music (The Pioneer is Bluetooth compatible) a few songs in, the sound just stopped. It was still
connected and playing but no audio. I looked up how to reset my pioneer and I have audio with everything now!
