Xbox one does not like 1 Gbit connections?

Alright, i just bought an XBox One last week and when i'm doing a speedtest while wired the xbox crashes and does not respond. When i do a speedtest on wireless (my wireless goes to 98 Mbit maximum) it works nice.

So what i did, i connected through SSH on my router and limited my XBOX connection to max 100 Mbit and guess what... it worked. So i uncapped the connection again and the xbox crashes as soon the speedtest starts.

Does the xbox hate 1 Gbit connections or what? I have 1 Gbit fiber up and download and i'm living in the Netherlands.

    :)

    Xbox one download speed issue

    "Triband"?

Don't you mean spatial streams? For example, 3x3:3?

The Xbox One is 2x2, so you'll never see Gbit speeds. Not likely for any of your wireless stations.

    Bandwidth throttling when streaming

    Hi.

I have an XBOX ONE, which is connected to my LAN on Cat 5e cabling. My switch is GBit and I have verified the speed.

When I stream from the XBOX to any of my Windows 10 PCs I get network quality problems, despite the streaming test states all quality settings are good. When I display the network bandwidth whilst playing it never goes above 20mbit.

When I check the detailed network statistics directly on the XBOX I get a download speed of 40mbit and an upload speed of 9mbit. That's consistent with my broadband connection. When I check the detailed network statistics whilst streaming my download speed
is 1.15mbit but my upload speed remains the same.

All the PCs are current moderate gaming grade. I have replaced the gbit switch with another and I have replaced all cables.

As the streaming is on the internal wired GBit LAN, how is it possible to still have bandwidth issues, except if the XBOX throttles?

Could someone who knows more about XBOX's help please?

    Thanks.

    Peter

    External Hard drive

And a credit card sized 500g...SSD by SAMSUNG T5....USB 3.1 Gen2 (up to 10gbper sec.).
Your drive is rated USB 3.1 Gen 2 and it can do up to 10 Gbit/s, but you won't get that speed on the One X as its USB ports are only USB 3.1 Gen 1 which are up to 5 Gbit/s.

Faster than a slow 2.5" 5,400 RPM mechanical hard drive for sure, but you could have achieved similar performance with a 2.5" SSD in a external hard drive enclosure.

    Bandwidth throttling when streaming

    Hi MQ,

Thanks for coming back to me.

So, I have a fully wired LAN, all devices are connected to it.

I have a router\modem connected to the main switch through an internal gbit switch port.

I am able to stream 4k TV from the Internet and 4k video from my media server without any issues. I realise video streaming probably uses a cache, and game streaming probably wouldn't work with a cache. I can transfer files at close to the max speed and
I only have speed issues with XBOX streaming.

I cannot connect all devices straight to the modem as it is a 5 port internal switch and I use a 16 port unmanaged switch.

My question to you is this... Does the streaming traffic have to go through my modem in to the XBOX Live servers before making back it to my PC? If it does not then it does not make sense that my router\modem would cause an issue as the traffic never reaches
    the router\modem.

So, unless you are suggesting that streaming only work between a directly connected xbox and W10 PC, which would be crazy, then I don't understand how a gbit switch can bring the download only (not upload) speed down to 1.15 Mbit and cause streaming issues.

Unless you are saying I need a managed switch with higher throughput, which is massively expensive, and probably overkill for a home setup.

Last, I may have forgotten to mention that all devices are connected to the main switch, the XBOX too, and I don't have any issues on it when not streaming.

    Thx

    Peter

    12GB DDR5, please!!

"In addition, the DDR3 standard permits DRAM chip capacities of up to 8 Gbit."

This was a sentence I found when I did a search of DDR3 on Wikipedia. GDDR5 is also a type of DDR3. This is why both PS4 and Xbox One have exactly only 8GB RAM.

Both Xbox One and PS4 will use an AMD Jaguar 8 core APU. Also search "Jaguar (microarchitecture)" on Wikipedia.
