xbox one does not download contents in standby mode

It was designed to be in Instant On always for quick wake-up (especially with "Xbox, On") so you can have it like that for as long as you like. It will also automatically check for other game and system updates overnight when it is like this, at which point
it will also download those. In theory, if you leave it like this you never have to manually update anything.

The console will not continue downloading if you have it set to Energy Saving and switch it off; at this point it will simply shut down and not do anything. If you want it to continue with the download you would need it set to Instant On, which is the mode
where it will also auto-download updates for the console.

Hi Byel! Can you confirm a couple of things for us? First, what o/s version are you on? There were some update issues which have been resolved in the latest updates.

Second, when you say Standby, is your console not set to "instant on" mode? A console must be in "instant on" mode (by going to settings --> power & startup) for updates to download while asleep.

Finally, you will also want to make sure background downloads are enabled in this same location. Let us know!

It also downloads any updates (system or game) that are released during the day. So for example your at work, a patch for BF4 is released, the Xbox one will download it, but only if its in stand-by mode.
