    Xbox one does not display


    Hello,

    I have an Xbox day one that randomly does not start correctly.

    If I start the xbox (either by controller or or pressing the power button) it will just blink. No data sent to the TV. In order to get it to work, I have to unplug the power. This has happened a few times.

    Is this software related or could it be a precursor to a hardware failure?

    Xbox one resolutions

    The Xbox One can only output at 720p and 1080p. If you TV does not support 1080p then it will only display at 720p from the Xbox One, as the Xbox One does not output 1080i at this time.

    Hi there try leaving the console unplugged for a minute or 2 see if this helps.

    Hi NJ, thanks for the info. I have tried that and it does work. I am worried though that this may be a precursor to a hardware failure within the system itself. This has happened a few times since I bought the device in December.

    Also make sure you're not plugging it into a power strip or surge protector and plugging it directly into the wall. The PSU on this system is the biggest to date and has it's own built in surge protector and plugging it into another one with several other
    things drawing off the same plug can cause amperage issues. You don't want to inadvertently burn out your PSU.

    Hi NJ, thanks for the info. I have tried that and it does work. I am worried though that this may be a precursor to a hardware failure within the system itself. This has happened a few times since I bought the device in December.

    Hi JulienCLEMENT,

    sorry to hear.Your Xbox One displays 480p if it does not receive an EDID from your TV. This is the lowest resolution possible for the Xbox One. However, the console was not designed to display at low resolutions. So I think maybe your TV is faulty?
    But please read about here:

    "Display troubleshooter"
