Ya I would love to IceStorm III. I really do appreciate the advice, just trying to find the best way possible. Will be a few days until I get my cell though because I can't change my settings until I receive the phone code.

  2. I can't speak for the games, but if you want a physical copy, you can download any digital movies you've purchased on Xbox Live off of xbox.com onto your computer & then burn it to a disc. Xbox One DLCs & Downloadable Only Content ;)

  3. Regarding your response to digital media, you're right in a lot of ways, Chute, and I respect your opinion. However, I still want to address a few things based upon what you said:

    1) You can take your games anywhere (so-to-speak) and put them on any console, even digitally; as long as your profile is signed in on a non-home-assigned console, anyone can play your games, even your kids (this is the ONLY limitation to doing so however).

    2) It is true that you can't sell your digital games; however, MS has gone on record saying that they're working on a way to change that.

    3) Why would you want to give your games away to a random friend?

    4) You can't install ANY digital media without a connection - that's what makes it digital (as in no physical copies)!

    5) You can't back up digital games because that's basically a way to copy, steal, and resell. If you want both, you can place blame on all the people that helped reverse MS' original vision, which would've potentially allowed for that.

    6) Once the dust is removed, yes, you can play your digital games, albeit with potential loss of features (for example, if Xbox Live is no longer running, you may not be able to access multiplayer), but you will still be able to play most of your games (I
say most because some are online-only).

    7) While it's true that MS may discontinue support, this is true for any product - what you should ask yourself is are you still going to play each of your games 10 years from now? It's also worth noting that, in many cases, even physical discs may not last
    that long.

    8) Your PC analogy runs on assumptions, which makes it a poor argument.

  4. Xbox One DLCs & Downloadable Only Content

    3) I come from a poor background and I like to give to people I know rather than selling it for a minute gain.

    5) Not if downloading the content to CD/DVD causes your account to released your digital media rights...

    7) Microsoft discontinuing support and not being able to use the online only content due to their lack of support is completely different so I'm not sure why this isn't clear. I shouldn't need to explain this.

    8) I don't see how my PC analogy runs on assumptions as it's all facts. As far as it being a poor argument, it's far from because with a PC we are provided freedom, with a console you're a slave to Microsoft's contracts.

  5. 3) Fair enough.

    5) For digital media to release you of your digital media rights in order to copy it to a CD/DVD, it would have to have some way to detect that it was being transferred. Even if it did (as I'm sure there is a way), that still wouldn't necessarily stop you
from copying en mass (again, not saying that you would).

    7) If MS discontinues support entirely, you'll still be able to play your digital games for as long as you have a console to play them on, even offline (the exception being if you got the game for free as part of the Free Games with Gold promotion) - this
is actually a direct result of the changes MS made to make customers happy.

    8) In your example, you say assuming you get the settings configured correctly and modded right to work with Windows 8. That's exactly why people play on consoles! Although you're right that we lose some freedoms of choice on consoles, we're far from being
slaves. Gaming on consoles just becomes easier because everything automatically works without all of the extra hassle. That's not slavery, that's convenience - and there's a reason so many people are willing to pay for it at a lesser price than having to figure
    everything out on a PC.

  6. 1) Again, like I originally stated your limited to what Microsoft wants to allow you to do, not what you want to do.

    2) Microsoft says a lot of things they never do, they do what's in the best interest for profits, not for their customers. When they do it I will believe it, until then this comment is invalid.

    3) I come from a poor background and I like to give to people I know rather than selling it for a minute gain.

    4) Again, why I prefer hard copies which I can't obtain because I'm forced into buying digital content. I have hard copies of all my games that I can obtain in hard copy form. Which brings me to the next line.

    5) Not if downloading the content to CD/DVD causes your account to released your digital media rights...

    6) As far as not being able to play Xbox One online in the future when Microsoft servers no longer support it, it's very possible through hosting servers through a computer. What happens when Microsoft decides to stop dedicating servers for older games all
together? Guess what happens to that digital media? It's gone, if you don't have a hard copy of course, as I'm sure Microsoft has it built into their Term & Agreement.

I play on consoles because my friends play on consoles not because I prefer it. Let me be more clear in my explanation as I did leave some confusion for those who don't know about VMWare. I can easily do this by running whatever OS, example Windows 8, and
background running Windows ME through virtual means. Problem solved.

    7) If Microsoft stops supporting a server that hosts online games is one thing and is understandable. Microsoft stopping support for storing the game and information for that game on a server so people still have the ability to download it to their system
is another thing. If they stop this type of support and you no longer have a copy on your system, you're ***. Am I not correct?

  9. 1) Every product from the beginning is chosen for you; the company that developed the product than adapts to its customers needs and wants in order to increase sales. The Xbox One is no exception to this very rudimentary rule.

    2) Every company without exception says a lot of things they never do and does a lot of things they never say. Also, EVERY company is in it to make money - that's why they exist in the 1st place! Again, MS is no exception.

    4) Whether a game is available as a physical copy or a digital copy is entirely up to the developers. If they only offer a game digitally that you like, contact the developers themselves and request that they make their games available on a physical disc
    as well.

    6) As long as the games are installed on your console or on an external HDD, you don't have to worry about MS servers going down, aside from the aforementioned online features. As for the other media (e.g., movies), simply download it and copy it onto a
    disc like I mentioned before.

  10. 8) PC is way easier, I put in the CD and install it and I'm good to go. I put the CD in my Xbox One and it downloads all the content off of servers rather than the CD because I'm connected to the internet. If If my friend wants to use it, it's no problem,
here you go. The only thing that sucks with PC is I get so into modding the games that I spend more time modding than actually playing because I find that I can always make the game better.

  11. 7) You are correct, but MS won't just blindly stop their services. They'll give advance notice (at least a few months) which will give their customers ample time to back up their content.

    8) If that's your preference, then fine. Why don't you try to convince more of your friends to game with you on PC?

  12. In regards to modding on PC, I personally don't support it - I like playing games the way the developer had originally intended - if they want to improve their game, they will (provided it's affordable, of course). Besides, in a lot of cases, mods can increase
the chances of errors and glitches, which again, is something you don't have to worry about on consoles. Mods can also often create an unfair playing field in multiplayer games.

    7) Didn't say they would blindly stop their services but they sure won't let you get a hard copy now will they? Nope. Also if you don't back it up or see that they are discontinuing support in the allotted time, your out of luck.

    8) They don't know how to configure a gaming controller to the PC even despite telling them how easy it is to do it because of their own ignorance. Majority of mainstream gamers prefer systems which means that since most of my friends are mainstream gamers
it's a lot of effort to convince the whole lot. It's easier to join the crowd than it is to convince because there are different types of gamers who prefer their tastes. They think it's voodoo magic that I do the things I do on computers, when most of us all
know it's simple. I mean there is a million reasons why I don't convince them.

I play the game first in original mode but I always mod them after to see how ideas play out in actual concept, never during online play. Modding does increase the chances of errors and glitches and modding isn't as widely available on consoles due to the
lack of knowledge in the general public and consoles tight Service & Agreements and consequences of such if caught. Which we all know goes back to freedom but I do see your point here in reference to hacking for the wrong reasons but I guess it comes with
    the territory.

  15. For consoles, we have DLC and expansions instead. It serves the same purpose as mods on PC (to extend the life of the game), but is done through official channels. Although it may be more expensive as a result, it virtually guarantees (or at least should
in most cases) that there will be no unbalanced gameplay or errors and glitches. Basically, what we get on consoles is guaranteed quality. You don't always get that with PC mods.

In any case, I'm tired and am going to bed. We'll continue this tomorrow if you'd like. Xbox One DLCs & Downloadable Only Content :)
