  1. Xbox One DLCs & Downloadable Only Content

I have multiple Xbox Ones in my household. Both were bought by me, one for myself and one for my kids/little brother who lives with me. Is there a way to transfer DLCs and downloadable only content from one Xbox to another? If there isn't a way how can I,
from now on, purchase all DLC content and have a physical copy of this content?

With this said this brings about another question of systems being replaced which I've already had to do with one of my systems since purchase due to faulty equipment. If this happens again does this mean I have to re-buy all content?

    :)

    Hi!

Check the downloadable content with the "Manage Game" feature and install the desired DLCs.

You get two licenses with digital content - one is a Home Console license, the other is a Gamertag license. Make the console you DON'T use your Home Console. Any games you buy will work for any gamertag on the Home Console without your gamertag being logged
in. Any games you download to a console that isn't your Home Console will work for your gamertag, provided it's logged into Live.

You can change which console is your Home Console at any time:

  5. Everything IceStorm III said is true, except for the last part, I think. I'm fairly certain that you can only switch your home console a few times a year.

I know the 360 is limited to a license transfer once every 120 days or so. I've not heard anything about Home Console changes being limited.

  7. Home console changes are limited to 4 a year, but you can use all 4 straight away. Just don't go mad.

How do I add a Gamertag to my content list? Glad to hear I'm not being bent over this time around by greed.

Hmm? You wouldn't add a gamertag. The purchasing account automatically gains access to the content via a Live login. Any other gamertag can access it from the Home Console only.

  10. Called Microsoft and found out there is a way to share DLC/downloadable only content between two systems. In order to do this you have to have them added as a family member so I guess this means I don't have to purchase two DLCs per a game so that my kids
can play their system while I play mine. So excited to try this out, will update the community when I find out if it truly works or if they misunderstood my question. Will be a few days as I'm still waiting for my new phone in the mail and I smashed the last
    one Hulk style.

  11. Most of the community already knows how to do it, Chute. In fact, Ice was kind enough to explain to you already how it works. That alone should be proof that it works.

  12. Ice explained that I could set a console as home, the one I'm not using as my main. An set the gamertag, mine, as the main gamertag which would solve the issue. As far as proof that it works, I wasn't talking about his suggestion but rather the one Microsoft
had discussed with me over the phone. That was registering both consoles, which I'm doing. An to also add those other accounts as family members, which I'm also doing once I get my phone back so I can change my family members. I am grateful, I'm sorry that
you misunderstood this as rude as that was not my intentions. After I solved this issue my plan was not only to update the community, in the case there are others that run into this issue but to also thank those that had a part in solving my problem. As I
find thanking people ahead of time before actually accomplishing the objective is the wrong way to go about it but to test theory, ensure it works than thank everyone who had a part. Ice was actually the reason I decided to call up Microsoft in the first place
to ask them how to accomplish this and after explaining my situation to them they had explained a better way to go about it which was what I explained above.

Chute, I didn't take what you said as rude, and didn't mean to come off as rude if I did myself. :|

From my understanding, Chute, any gamertag on your home-assigned console can access your digital games whether you're signed in or not (in other words, they don't even have to be family). On any console that is not your home-assigned console (which is basically
every other console in existence), they can't access your digital games* that you may have also put on those consoles without you being signed in at the same time.

The idea that ICN3D is trying to convey is that if you make your children's console your home-assigned console rather than yours, they can play all of your digital games that you've installed onto that console even though you're not signed in on that console.
Since you're going to be signed in on the other non-home-assigned console anyways when you play your games, the limitation that requires you to be signed in won't really matter, since it's your console.

It has nothing to do with registration of the consoles or who is or is not your family.

*You can download your digital games to any console that also has your profile on it. Anyone who tries to play your games on those consoles while you are not signed in will be asked if they would like to purchase the game and will not have access to it until
they do, in which case, they get a license for it and get their own game.

The idea behind this is supposed to represent digital games like a real, physical disc. While at home, anyone at your home can play the game on the disc. If you take your disc over to a friend's house, anyone can play that disc until you take it home with
you. Once you're gone with the disc, they can't play it. You = your profile; your disc = the digital game. It works the same way, except, since you can designate which console is your home-assigned console, it creates a loophole that allows for 2 different
profiles to play 1 purchased digital game at the same time on 2 separate consoles. When you buy digital, if you have 2 consoles, you're effectively getting a buy 1 get 1 free deal.

This method has already been proven to work by numerous community members.

  14. "You can download your digital games to any console that also has your profile on it. Anyone who tries to play your games on those consoles while you are not signed in will be asked if they would like to purchase the game and will not have access to it until
they do, in which case, they get a license for it and get their own game."

This is the part I disagree with. I have kids, who should be able to play any content that I bought, whether it be digital or hard copies as long as that content associate with my account is not being used in multiple location at any given time. I understand
there are loopholes, for instance, the one Ice has provided but I'm not looking for loopholes I'm looking for a way to use my digital content as if it was a regular CD and as if I have complete control of what happens to that digital version. As in I can take
it with me where I want, use it on whatever system I want, without being signed in as but rather as one of my children's gamertags. I want this to even be so if they decide they want to go over to a friends house to play a game they do not have,
just as we did before this whole digital content scam took over the market.

"The idea behind this is supposed to represent digital games like a real, physical disc."

As far as this being true, I find it completely wrong, with my current knowledge of digital media as digital media and hard copy media is completely different from one another. I can't sell my digital media to someone such as Gamestop or give it to a random
friend who isn't associated to my account, I can't install digital media on my system without a connection because I can't back it up to a disc. I mean really though, 30 years down the road when the Xbox One is an ancient piece of useless equipment can I wipe
off the digital dust on my digital media and play it? Is it subject to time limits after purchase and availability until Microsoft decides to discontinue support for it as they did with some old original Xbox games? On the PC, I can dust off an old original
copy of Pools of Radiance with no problem and play it assuming I can get the settings configured correctly and modded to work with Windows 8.

As a paying customer, I prefer to have hard copies for everything for some of the reasons listed above but since online only content does not offer this I prefer to be able to bring my media where I please. This is not for exploiting purposes, I know you
didn't say that I was, but rather because I like freedom to do what I please with things I buy. It's like owning a house in a gated community where you have no say in what color you're allowed to paint your house, in my opinion defeats the purpose of buying
a house. Catch what I'm saying?

    What you described:

sounds like the sharing plan that was supposed to be part of Xbox One at launch. My understanding was that it wasn't implemented as of yet.

If you try it and it works, please let us know. The alternative is the situation I described earlier. It's not a loophole. You get two licenses for digital content. You're allowed to use them in the manner I described.
