  1. Xbox One displays no signal when using HDR

I have a very strange problem:

I recently installed Watch Dogs: Legion (I have the disc) on my Xbox One, but I can't start up the game. Every time I do, my TV says there is no signal, even though my Xbox is still on. Restarting the Xbox brings the display back until I try to start the
game again. I was able to start up a different game without issues.

    I've tried:

    • Soft restart
    • Hard restart
    • Power cycling
    • Setting display settings to 4K, 1080p, and 720p
    • Starting the game while signed in and while signed out (one time while signed out the display remained on and I got a "took too long to start" error, but every other time I got the "No signal" error.

I also tried "Calibrate HDR for games," as the HDR seemed to be a source of issues for some people, and I again got the "No signal" error upon selecting this option.

We also recently got a new TV, I'm not sure if this is a factor.

Update: After further testing, I found that the issue is definitely related to HDR. I disabled HDR10 in settings, and afterward was able to successfully load the game.

So now my question is why won't HDR work? My first guess is the new TV, my second guess is the HDMI cord. However, I've run Forza 4 and Modern Warfare on this Xbox with the same HDMI cord, and I believe these both use HDR. Any expertise would be greatly
    appreciated.

    :)

    4K/1440p HDR

Microsoft locked hdr to 4k so if ur monitor dont accept 4k signals ( tick allow 4k box in settings must be selected for hdr) it doesnt work on 1080p 1440p displays usually only if they accept 4k signals. Because microsoft locked it since xbox one s and
one x. It is hard to understand why they not allow it now because they have xbox series s 1440p 120hz hdr console right?

HDR not working with BenQ EW277HDR monitor

    Hi,

    Thank you for the answer.

Yes, I can confirm I have HDR enabled in the video modes, along with auto-detect. I followed every step of the 4K & HDR troubleshooter on the Help page (even though it's mainly aimed at 4K), and none of the steps proposed worked.

I can also confirm that there is no setting to enable on the monitor, it just auto-detects the signal when it's being output.

Example: when I turn on my PS4, the monitor displays in Standard mode. When I open a game on the PS4 supporting HDR10 (such as Mass Effect Andromeda), the monitor will auto-switch to HDR mode and display that content correctly once the game menu gets displayed.
    Nothing else to do.

On the Xbox One X, whenever I open an HDR game (such as Rise of the Tomb Raider) the monitor continues displaying in Standard mode, and I can't alter the HDR slider in the game's options since the feature is not being picked up. When I check the
4K details in the Video options, it's displaying that my display is not HDR10 compatible.

Latest update messed up black levels for UHD playback

I have the exact same issue on my One X. Tried the Star Trek and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (Both UHD discs with HDR). Games in HDR (Forza 7) look amazing but UHD movies look awful now.

Regular blurays look fine. My LG OLED C6 switches to HDR mode and displays info saying that it is receiving a 4K signal with HDR and BT rec.2020 so the signal is correct for HDR, but it seems that the Bluray software in the latest update has been messed
up so that it doesn't decode or send HDR image data correctly to the TV as it did before.

Sony TV KDL-32W660E and HDR Support

According to some support documentation, it seems you
must have a 4K+HDR display in order to enable HDR.

I suppose 1080p+HDR displays weren't a thing yet when the Xbox One S came out. A bit ironic since the game is rendered at 1080p anyway on the Xbox One S!

One thing to do for now is to submit your feedback to request HDR support for 1080p+HDR displays: http://xbox.uservoice.com Make a new thread with this request, or vote on existing threads if someone else already has
the idea. If a thread gets enough votes by the community, the idea will be officially evaluated by Microsoft and they may push it into future system updates.

    DisplayHDR 1000

Display HDR 1000 is a VESA Certification of HDR capability. This monitor having Display HDR 1000 means that it meets VESA's highest requirements for an HDR display.

This monitor should work beautifully for Xbox One X. You can see more information on the Display HDR ratings here.

    Happy Gaming!
