Xbox One Disk Drive not functioning

For some reason I was told by chat support to post this over in the feedback forum. I double checked and they re-confirmed yes to post there, so I did as I was told. But as a precautionary measure I will also post the contents of this thread I created
here.

"Less than a year and a half ago I purchased an Xbox One. In that time it has mainly been my primary streaming device. Since I've owned it I have used the disk drive exactly twice. Tonight I tried to use the disk drive for the third time and it did not work,
it did not function at all.

I believe the drive motor is broken because I would press the button and the system would ding but nothing would happen. I had to manually eject the disk and when I try to push it back in the drive does not pull it in.

This seems to be a manufacturer defect that was unnoticeable for so long because of how infrequently I used the disk drive. Considering that I'm hoping that I can be helped out.

Can you not switch Xbox one hard drives or disk drives from one console to the other?

My Xbox One disk drive wasn't working properly so I bought a new Xbox one but didn't want to re download all my stuff so took my old hard drive out and put it in my new Xbox one but then it didn't work it came on but after the green Xbox screen it just went
blank it would play games and disk but wouldn't go home so then I just took out the new disk drive and put it and my old hard drive back in my old Xbox it worked and went to the home screen but the new disk drive in the old xbox wont play games it just will
play blu rays I don't know what's going on can you not switch parts from one Xbox to the other or something and also the reason I got a new one was cause my old one when I put a disk in every now and then it would say disk not recognized put in a bluray xbox
one game or cd but they where blu rays or xbox one games I could get it to work but had to jam the disk in there all fast. Is there a way I can just fix the old disk drive so I don't have to switch any parts.

 

REVERTING EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE FROM XBOX BACK TO PC HELP!

The Xbox One formats the drive in a way that a typical PC may not be able to browse it normally for files. However, it should still be detected in your disk partition manager.

If you are using Windows:

1. Plug the drive in.
2. Open "Disk Management"
3. Find the external drive in the disk list.
4. Reformat as intended.

If you are using macOS:

1. Plug the drive in.
2. Open "Disk Utility"
3. Find the external drive in the disk list.
4. Erase, and reformat as intended.

 

Sorry you have this problem, If your warranty as expired you will need to pay for any repair/exchange.

 

I remember there was a fairly widespread issue with faulty drives around launch. It seems like I might have gotten one of those faulty systems, but since I've only put two disks into it the entire time I've owned it the issue was never noticed until now.
They were giving away free games to customers affected by this issue when it was first reported, I just want a working system that's all.

 

I remember the issues however their drives were not reading discs or having to be inserted multiple times, I cannot offer much help here you should try support again, I know it seems unfair but I think you will have to pay for the repair sorry.
