Xbox one discs wont launch.

Ok so basically I've had this Xbox one since 2014 and I've had no problems with it in the past but recently I've noticed that none of my discs work. Every time i put a disc in the console it takes a couple seconds to read the disc then is comes up with
an error message. So far I've errors saying the disc is dirty or scratched but the problem is that sometimes is i get that message even if the disc is new. Sometimes it tells me to make sure the disc is an Xbox one disc or blue ray. I've tried clean the discs
and I've tried restarting my console but nothing seems to work and i really don't want to have to send my console in for repairs. Please help.

Before you try it, I can say with confidence that opening your console and simply replacing the optical drive yourself will not work, even if you buy an identical Xbox One drive.

If you're in for a little electrical soldering surgery, though, refurbished Xbox One optical drives are available online for less than official Microsoft service prices. You'll have to open your system to identify exactly which model of optical drive you
have, get a replacement with a good laser and all the other mechanical parts, but move your circuit board from your old drive to the new one so it will still be the same drive as far as the system can see. If your circuit board is good, this should work. Obviously,
this is not supported by Microsoft, but it won't violate any of the anti-piracy policies because you're still using the same valid drive firmware and logic.

So a couple of things I would try.

I noticed that you said you’ve been trying your games and they arent working. If you haven’t already, try a movie and see if it works, Blu-ray or regular it shouldn’t matter. And then also try your games at somebody else’s house just to make sure that nothing
is wrong with the game themselves

If the optical cleaner disk doesn’t work, center console is getting towards the six-year mark it’s quite possible the laser is burning out or has burned out already

Hm, seems like the optical drive is out or is having trouble reading data off of discs. At this point you can either send it out for repairs (which I think is around $100) or you can do what I did and just simply upgrade to an Xbox One S or an Xbox One X.

Sure it's a lot more money to upgrade to either but being a past owner of the original Xbox One, I have come to realize that the original model can get faulty after a few years. If it's not one thing, it's something else. Ever since I upgraded to the Xbox
One S, I have had zero issues.

Sounds like you have an issue with the optical drive in the unit. Since it's from 2014, I'm assuming it's an original Xbox One and more than likely out of warranty. Without taking apart the console to clean the drive, there are several optical disc drive
cleaning discs on the market for around $10 USD. I just did a search and saw several options. Many of them have a little brush that attempts to clean the optical sensor on the drive. At this point this would be something to try, otherwise you will need to
replace the optical drive or send the unit in for repair.
