Xbox one: disc vs digital download.

Don't ever purchase the digital game. 1. It takes up space 2. it takes for ever to download. 3. it eats up your data usage if you have a limit. 4. You can resell the game if you ever get bored. 5. can't lend it to friends or trade games.

 

1. Same as the disc version HDD

2. Doesn't matter pre loading is here.

3. I have plenty and don't huy huge games every month.

4. Don't sell my games so doesn't matter.

U Go, I would have to drive 45 minutes out of my way to reach the nearest gaming store...

 

It will take a lot longer than 45 minutes to download it.

 

Digital is available on every games console with an internet connection. Just the same as PC.

The reason they aren't inline with PC is the lack of competition on the platform digital storefront.

 

@ USMC - I downloaded both CoDAW and HMCC at the same time within an hour, not too bad considering HMCC alone was 59GB......

 

While I can understand to a degree if someone has a Cap on their Internet use a Disc would seem like a better choice (I would argue against an ISP imposing a limit on Bandwidth that a User pays for but that's a separate issue),
I would say Digital is 100%.

Both have issues depending on personal needs but it's really nothing more than that. It has nothing to do with "consumer rights" or any other internet nonsense. Buy or do not.

Personally all I own is Digital and enjoy being able to go from any Game in my library with a simple command to any other. My internet is more than capable and imposes no Bandwidth Cap. I also don't like driving down to a Game store at midnight about 35+ minutes
away using more and more expensive gas and other resources in the process. The time for a DL, meh whatever don't even care if I'm not even at home to begin with. Cause I can't wait for a DL while I sleep...

Exactly lost. Halo collection took 30 something hours for me to download but like all the other games I've downloaded I waa at work or asleep when it happened.

 

That's new to me. I didn't think Comcast had a cap on data. I have Comcast too and my speed are 105 down and 12 up and I pay a flat rate every month. You people that have the 300 gb cap must be a part of the Comcast Business Class. I would love to get the
fastest internet that Comcast has but it's $100 more every month on my bill.They already get enough out of me. They are a monopoly though but their service is worth it.

Comcast has caps in certain service areas. They're not real explicit about it unless you hit it.

If you want to do something about it, contact your local Congressperson and file a complaint with your local BBB. I wouldn't call Comcast directly as their front line drones have no power to fix anything and could instead make your problem worse due to the
pressure to upsell every single caller.

Where I am, they have a 'stated' 280GB cap... but a "data usage" gauge that, when you follow the link to that page, shows up with a slide bar which goes from 0 to 300GB. The data
cap is "currently suspended" in our area as of the last time I checked, 'in an effort to keep current with customer usage demands' <or something like that.

 

Just for giggles I looked up delisted games. You might be losing your consumer rights if you purchased any of these game digitally. I copied and pasted...so I make no guarantee or take no credit for the accuracy or lack therefore of. Lol.

Very little consumer rights have been lost, even with delisted games, since I have some of those games that are no longer sold and I can still download them again via my purchase history on my Xbox 360. Only users who either didn't purchase them originally
or have lost their accounts can no longer download them.

Even if you did lose your account, it's still possible for Xbox support to get this back, even if you don't know the email address or the password. It can take a while but if you provide enough evidence, they can still retrieve them.
