Xbox One Disc Loading Grinding Noise

Hi.

I have had my Xbox One for years and never had an issue with it until recently. When I load a disc into the system now, there is a grinding noise for a few seconds and then it goes away. My games load fine and I have not received a disc read error or anything.
It doesnt happen all the time but it is happening frequently. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what can be done? BTW my system is no longer under warranty. Any help would be really appreciated.

xbox 360 s making grinding noise when disc loads

I have my games installed but when i start a game and the disc starts loading, the system is making a grinding noise. It stop when the disc stop spinning. Is the disc drive going bad or could there be another reason.

 

Xbox crashes and makes horrible noise.

Recently wanted to get back into playing my Xbox One (S model) and after updating I started a game. About 5-10 minutes into it, the console turned off and the power button flashed 2-3 times while I heard a grinding noise, and it slowly got more high pitched
until it went away. Games on disc seem to be having this problem as I tried out a digital game and it worked fine. It also seems games on disc are loading a lot longer and will sometimes crash to the home screen without turning off the console and having the
grinding noise.

It sounds like there could be a hardware issue forming here. Is your console on a flat level surface with good ventilation? Does the noise happen at any other times, or just when the disc is inserted into the console?

Yes it is horizontally placed with good ventilation. Only makes that sound when I load a disc into it.

 

Thanks, it does indeed sound like this could be hardware related. Since the console is outside of warranty, there may be a charge for servicing the console. If you do this online it's generally cheaper, you can learn more information about how to setup a
console for repair through the online repair center
