    Xbox one disc drive


    i bought an Xbox one a month or two after it was released and a few months after it completely stopped reading discs and I didn't have a warranty or anything so I had to buy another console which is now starting to have the same not reading discs error
    I'm hoping I don't have to spent another $500 this is ridiculous.

    You've probably heard that the disc drive for the Xbox One was considered non-existent one time for the design by Microsoft, making it a digital-only device. But thanks to this article I saw, it's still there.

    Sorry to hear it. Can you please try the following steps?

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Select Disc & Blu Ray

    3. Uncheck Enable BD Live

    4. Select Persistent Storage and then Clear it 3 times

    5. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down

    6. Unplug all cables and let it sit for 5 minutes.

    Can you play regular DVD movies? I had this same problem. I figured it will not read blu rays but just played DVD movies. I got it fixed when it was under warranty.

    Now that you have a second Xbox One that should be under warranty correct? Call on the phone or chat with customer support. I chatted with them for over 2 hours but they ended up fixing it for me.

    You should try and do the same.

    It looks like instead of the Red Ring of Death, Xbox One has the DDD, the Doomed Disk Drive.

    That is correct! The next generation of Xbox One S wont feature a disc drive. While other Xbox One S with disc drives will be available.

    Are you playing the games with the Xbox 360 game disc in the drive? It is no different than Xbox One disc-based games, in that you must have the game disc in the drive to play it.

    Hi,

    Your disc won't be still inside your console. The Xbox One Blu-ray drive (just like all optical drives) is an enclosed unit and can only take one disc at a time there is literally nowhere for a disc to go, other than be picked up by the drive and spun. If
    there is already a disc there or otherwise stuck in the drive, the other disc wouldn't go in.
