Xbox one disc drive not recognised

Perform a power cycle. To do this, hold the power button for 10 seconds while the system is on. Then unplug the cable from the outlet and wait 5 minutes. Re-boot back up.

Xbox Insider Program? What is the error message or error code that appears when you insert a disc? Is this issue occurring with a single disc or multiple discs? Be sure to let us know the results!

Just to be clear:

The disc drive will flat out not recognise a disc in the drive if its of the old disc format. Games in the new disc format will play 100% every time perfectly well.

the xbox does not recognise the external hard drive and the only games i can play are the only ones that are installed on the xbox and when i start up the xbox none of the games come up and when i insert a disc i just says install disc but it does not work

Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

• Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
• Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't
work.
