    Xbox One Disc Drive Noise


    So I just tried to install a game for the fist time and the disc drive makes a lot of noise, sounds like a jet engine taking off. Is this how it is suppose to sound or is it suppose to be quite?

    Disc drives malfunctioning in Xbox One units

    I just read an article that says Microsoft is acknowledging faulty disc drives in some Xbox One units. Some people are having a problem with the drive making a grinding noise and not reading the disc, so if you have this problem, you're not alone!

    I think the original Xbox was the loudest console I owned. Even then, I never minded the noise, really. What kind of noise are you guys talking about? Fans, disc drive, or general clicky noises from the hard drive?

    ConsularFish, your optical disc drive is going to make some noise whenever it is being used.

    From my experience, the amount of noise that you're hearing from any drive is going to be directly related to the stability of the surface that the device is on, if it's in some sort of area that magnify the sound (like a cabinet) and of course if there
    are loose parts internally. If you aren't experiencing any disc read errors, the drive is fine, and ultimately this is what you want to pay attention to rather than the sound.

    I know that was a ton to digest, but I hope it answered your question and gave you a little insight to what to look for that would indicate an issue with your optical drive.

    Rajesh you are not correct. I had to send mine in for repair as the drive got very loud. It was not loud when I first got it. ALSO Deadrising 3 was unplayable. I got my replacement 3 days ago and I can verify that the drive is VERY silent now and Deadrising
    3 is now playable. I assume that there was something wrong with the memory of the unit.

    Same... For me xbox one is not silent ... When the disc is in the drive the noise level is much more of ps4...,and the fan also make Little squeaking noise

    the disc drive in the replacement xbox one console i received from microsoft makes a whirring noise when inserting a disc... only while it is accepting the disc. sounds like it might be the motor that pulls the disc inside the drive. anyone having any issues

    Yes some DVD drives are like that, and is perfectly normal, if you want to cut down the noise, then if you have a xbox 360 hard drive installed, you can install the games and that will help cut down the noise, as the game will play from the hard drive instead
    of the disc.(You will still need the disc in the drive to play though).
