xbox one disc drive grinding noise

the other day i went to buy my xbox one at ebgames, then i came back at home plugged it and everything was fine untill i tried to put the cd inside , i could'nt even put all of the cd inside the console and it started to make a grinding noise. So the day
after i went to the store to replace it and they did , but when i plugged it and tried to put the cd in it did the same thing!!!! the day after i went back to the store and they replaced it again but this one works fine at least. So in 3 days i got 3 different
consoles to finaly get one that works!!!!!! I hope xbox are gonna give me that free game they are talking about because not only i lost some time but my cd is scratched

Disc drives malfunctioning in Xbox One units

I just read an article that says Microsoft is acknowledging faulty disc drives in some Xbox One units. Some people are having a problem with the drive making a grinding noise and not reading the disc, so if you have this problem, you're not alone!

Grinding noise and disc stuck in drive

After inserting a disc the drive now makes a grinding noise and will not eject the disc. Manual ejection does not work. Cannot register XBOX One to set up a service request. Any ideas?

If the disc is a game you got at EB Games you can get that replaced there too. As they dealt with the console returns they will know why.

The free game from Microsoft was only if you returned the console to Microsoft for replacement/repair. They can't offer it for returns to a retailer as they have no way of knowing someone did that on their system so people could claim they had the issue
just to claim a free game.

You'll never have a 100% silent disc drive when it is reading data from the disc. As long as it is still reading/detecting the disc fine and not a loud grinding noise, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hmm, a clicking noise...could be the hard drive.

Any sort of grinding noise is not a good sign. Arrange a repair or replacement.

I had to replace a Series X that had a grinding disc drive just 6 months after I purchased it.

What's an "overheating sound"? Is the disc drive making grinding noises or something?

If that's the case, your disc drive may be malfunctioning. You can set up a repair here:

Did it sound like a mechanical grinding noise or electrical buzzing? If it's a grinding noise it's probably something not working right in the disc drive. If it's electrical sounding then it could be just about anything. In either case your only option would
be to send it back to microsoft for a repair, as attempting to fix it yourself will void the warrenty.
