Xbox One digital TV tuner

Does Microsoft plan to release this here in the states? I've only read about it being released in Europe. I really hope so because this would be an excellent feature for the Xbox One to really take advantage of it's live TV capabilities and great for

I would like for it to happen to, but they'll need to update the format of the tuner to work in the US.

I'm in the UK so i'm defo picking one up. Love the fact that you can stream the TV to your tablet, smartphone etc. while playing games on the Xbox One.

 

Don't count on it. These days MS refuses to even support their own software (Windows Media Center) in the U.S. and they seem to be doing everything they can to fade it out of existence. I know MS sold their shares in Comcast about 5 years ago, but I'm pretty
sure there's still some handshaking going on under the table that's going to prevent any type of decent system like this from ever happening in the U.S. I certainly hope I'm wrong, but it's really not very hard to put two and two together when you look at
what MS has done over the last few years, plus their absolute silence regarding any WMC features despite the fact that it's one of the most popular requests ever on both feedback sites they've launched. It seems more like Comcast is compensating them enough
for a non-compete.

 

^ That is exactly what I feared to wonder, but that just might be the case. It just seems so ominous that a great peripheral like this is only releasing in Europe, bypassing what a lot of us cord cutters here in the states would definitely want to purchase.

Lestat573, while Comcast is the largest MSO in the country, it isn't the only one. The biggest issue is they would have to incorporate a cable card, and those are terrible to work with. It would work for the traditional providers, but I'm not sure how
it would work on FIOS or UVerse. I'm not even sure if DirectTV or Dish would work with a CC. I'd just be happy if they came out with a live tv ap from Comcast. In fact, any ap for xfinity would be something.

 

@PSU - No, cablecards are not "horrible" to work with. You've obviously never had one, or had any experience with them. I've had once since 2009. You should take some time to look up the laws and actually do some research before making such obviously uninformed
and false statements. They work perfectly with FiOS or Uverse, as is required by U.S. law. Any U.S cable company must comply with the laws and make a cable card available to those who may request it. I know Comcast used to do their best to make it a pain in
the neck, but regardless, any cable provider in the U.S. must make cablecards available.

 

Release it for Australia and I'll be buying one. I Haven't had Pay TV for over 10 years and never will again. This device will sell well in Australia

 

How do cord cutters watch sports channels? Just wondering since the ESPN app doesn't work like I thought it would.

 

Well here we still have a few free to air sports events and matches. On the nights its on cable I do something else and just get score updates on twitter. I refuse to pay $70+ a month to watch a couple of rugby league games.

 

Apps, and a proxy server. Currently I still have cable since I'm only paying $90/month for internet and decent cable TV service. Before though, I paid $5/month for a proxy server and subscribed to MLB.tv to watch live baseball games. With the current deal
Comcast is giving me, it's worth it especially since I'm not willing to give up my MLB games. Otherwise though, subscribing to MLB.tv and a proxy server is your next best bet.

 

I hope because my tv does not have an option for a hdmi in, meaning I can't watch tv through my Xbox , or surround sound and this Digital TV tuner would allow me to do both!
