Xbox One & Device Control

I used the kinect to turn on/off my devices when my Xbox One console turned on and since trading in my kinect last Thursday everything does not turn on/off with the kinect anymore. Do I need the kinect in order to use this feature? I looked in the settings
but didn't see anything. Please help! Thanks!

Have you ever configured your Xbox One to
control your soundbar with IR? The Xbox One X has a built-in IR emitter, so it could possibly be toggling the soundbar power.

You don't necessarily need the Kinect to control external devices. You can use an IR emitter instead!

They're pretty cheap, and I used it with my original Xbox One console to control my TV and sound bar since I didn't have a Kinect. If you own an Xbox One S, it is also worth noting that it has its own built-in IR emitter.

Thanks Expert, but I didn't want the Kinect. I'm just wondering if I can still turn on/off all devices without it because when I turn my console on/off the devices don't do anything and I have to turn them on/off separately.

Hello Bret!

Sorry to hear you are having issues with an accessory for the adaptive controller. Here are a few things to try:

Connect a different device

To confirm that the problem is with the external device and not the controller, connect a different device to your controller if one is available. If the button is responsive when you connect your device to
the various ports on the controller, the problem may be with the original external device, not the controller.

If the button is still unresponsive after connecting a different (working and compatible) external device to the controller, the controller may need to be replaced.
