    Xbox One detecting folders but not files


    Using the media player, for some reason, my xbox detects the folders my shared media is in, but not the files within them.

    I have tried every step for sharing the library from my pc over and over again, and added folders many times, but nothing is working.

    It worked faultlessly for the last year, but for some reason since a couple of weeks ago it has just stopped working altogether.

    Can anyone help?

    Thumbnails for Videos

    How can I create thumbnails for my video collection?

    I have all my DVDs ripped to a hard drive, and we play them through the media player on the Xbox One.

    I have no idea how, but some folders have a "thumbs" database file.

    The folders with this file will show a thumbnail picture of the video. Folders without this file just show the name.

    How can I create thumbnails for all the folders? I really like that option.

    XBOX ONE MEDIA PLAYER CANNOT FIND FILES ON WINDOWS 10

    I just set up media sharing/streaming on windows media player for windows 10 and added some video files. when i open up the default folders on the xbox one media player app, my files or folders i added were not visible but my computer itself was/is. my roomates
    windows 7 computer worked fine though. i can view his files and play them. anyone have a clue?

    Hey thomolithic,

    If you have already tried everything on your PC side, maybe it could be a console issue.

    What kind of troubleshooting have you done, if any?

    Have you tried powercycling your console using the steps found on
    this link     yet?

    Xbox One detecting folders but not files

    I can actually no longer create a media server. The only way that I can send files to my XBoxOne X is to cast the file through Windows Media Player. I have already uninstalled and installed the Movies & TV app several times.

    I am using an external drive on my computer to store my files, but that was irrelevant prior to the update being installed.

    The media sharing option turns itself off when I restart my computer. I have to turn it on and when I do the server no longer appears as an option in the Xbox One X Movies & TV app.

    on the PC find the file you want to share right click on it and look for CAST TO or PLAY TO and see if your device is listed, there are smarter sites that talk about doing this.
